Mazda Milestone: 1,000,000 Mazda3s

In Japan it's the Axela (above), but we know it as the Mazda3, and this morning, Mazda announced that it's built a million of them.

Good-looking and practical, the car is by all accounts, an enormous hit. No Mazda vehicle has reached this milestone faster, and interest in the car remains sky high. The turbocharged Mazdaspeed3, for example, has tongues wagging in every market it's been made available to, and the rest of the Axela lineup has just undergone a mid-cycle refresh that should help keep buyers coming back for more.

Last year, it boasted production numbers among the highest of any single model in Japan, and Mazda has worked to maximize production capacity every year it's been in production. At the rate things are going, we wouldn't be surprised to see the car meet future milestones in record time as well.

We get it dude, you REALLY like your car! 😀

EDIT: And my next car is likely to be a 3. A friend of mine has one and I love pretty much everything about it. The only thing that's gonna be a minor pain is adding my aftermarket radio. Why did they embed the climate controls into the radio? 😕

can't be worse than my scion tc's. Got to be the cheapest paint ever. Had 2500 in hail damage 2 weeks ago from nickel sized hail that didn't seem to do damage to anyone else's car, despite the fact that it was only exposed for 6-7 minutes.

I like my 3, I'm completely happy with it. I will say that I'd rather have my integra back. It felt more solid and I liked the way it drove better. However, the 3 was cheaper and has more options so I can't complain.

cheap paint all around.. i've heard complaints from everyone (ie, all brands/models). and this car just lacks RWD and a little more ooopf (feels kinda heavy... but that's from me driving an mr2 around. heh)

all i need now is some of these to end up in a junkyard... i need some expensive parts i broke... heh.

It's a nice car for the budget, and the hatch is handsome and pratical. I almost bought a 3 hatch too, but ended up with a 6 hatch.

Good thing my car is black😛 Seeing as how the underlying bumper is black plastic, chips don't show up unless you're are down on your knees looking at the bumper.

Other than maybe 4 or 5 small knicks in the front bumper, the rest of my paint is untouched after 14,000 miles.

Whoever is planning to go to Japan and visiting Kyoto or Osaka, there is a place in Hiroshima(about two hrs from Kyoto/Osaka by bullet train)that has the Mazda auto plant. I believe that you can take a tour but it is closed on the weekends if I remember...

I'll go to Osaka soon. What's there to see in a Mazda plant?
