1 year and 1 week after the Manuf. Warranty expired, our $550 Maytag Dryer will no longer shut off.

Accudry Intellisense - Never shuts off
Times Dry - Never shuts off

thank GOD Sears just sent an extended warranty card option in the mail, gonna get an additional 1 year for $50

Do they time this though? It seems a little TOO conincidental.

Damn, she suckered me into the 2 year agreement

Oh well, no way was i doing the 3.

haven't bought a maytag dryer yet but our maytag washer been like the energizer bunny just keeps running and running....
Sounds like all you needed to do was change the timer pretty easy to do they usually run around 50.00
On the otherhand the heavy duty whirlpool we bought has had nothing but problems.

Maytag has not been sold to a Chinese company. Whirlpool is trying to buy them.

However, there has been a major increase in defects and problems with a lot of their appliances.

I laughed when I read this.
My friend owned a Maytag franchise here in my town for years.
A couple of years ago he started having problems getting Maytags to sell. Seems they were having "production difficultes". However the Big Box Marts were having no problem getting Maytags for sale.
End result after 25 years as a Maytag franchise my friend went out of business.

I have the same problem with my Maytag dryer. The dial never moves when it's on like it's supposed to. If you don't turn it off in an hour, it will stay on forever.

My maytag gas dryer is still going strong after 20 years. The only part I have had to replace was the squirrel cage blower wheel for the exhaust, cause it got to be noisy at the 10 year mark(turned out the center part of the old blower wheel increased in size a little bit from wear and allowed it to wobble as it turned, which was what was creating the noise).

They're still an "American" company... if you call being made in Mexico by cheap labor American.

my kenmore alypso washer just died. doing my consumer reports research found out that is the least reliable brand/model period. expensive piece of trash. looking into that i was surprised that maytag is not that reliable. most reliable: roper, then frigidair, whirlpool, kenmore (non calypso)
I forget where maytag was but definitely the tv guy is lying (they even have a class action suit against them for there neptune series problems)

look at the state of Maytag's business...no wonder they have gone downhill
silly company keeping manufacturing jobs in Iowa and Illinois...shouldve gone to China. THen they could have afforded to put higher quality components in instead of paying high wages

Isn't Kenmore made by Whirlpool? I thought they were.

We haven't had them long, but our Maytag washer and dryer are fantastic. The dryer in particular is very nice -- huge capacity, doesn't abuse clothes, and the interior light is still a marvel to us. 😀

Don't you have some type of repair plan? I think we have some repair plan from our gas company or something... they fix and repair the furnace and any 2 appliances for free, any time. Our dryer is old and the timer breaks every year or so, and the motor burned out a couple times, but they fixed it every time without it costing us a dime.
