Yes, I am saying that. SA metro area is 1/10th of the size NYC. Tourism? You're lucky if you get 1/10th of the tourists NYC does. Don't kid yourself. SA is a village compared to NYC. I've been to both.

Size of the city doesn't determine the amount of horse carriage rides and companies in the city.

It's more or less dictated by what the market can sustain. Lots of people come to SA for a carriage ride around the Alamo and historic districts. It has a large number of carriage companies to support that. I've been trying to look up the numbers of active carriage companies on the internet between SA and NYC, but haven't found anything solid yet. I can safely tell you there are far more horses in an around SA than there are in NYC period.

I don't have time to dig up the story; and surprised it hasn't been mentioned here yet. There's a back story to this whole thing: valuable real estate and donations to the mayor. The real reason for getting rid of the horses has nothing to do with the horses - it has to do with an opportunity for one of the mayor's friends to make a whole lot of money; something to do with the property where the horses are kept.

Edit: found an article. I don't know how valid the article is, but it does give a little food for thought. Of all the issues plaguing NYC, those horses have to be pretty damn low on the list of priorities.

Wait, a politician crushing the little guy just so his fat cat friends make more money?

I'm going to need some time to wrap my mind around that concept.

de blasio is a socialist scumbag and I am not surprised his cronies defend him. This is about developers donating money to this scumbag to shut down the carriages so they can use the property for themselves.
