This was brought to my attention by some goons from another forum.
One of their members ran for political office, in this case the Mayor of Madison, Wisconsin. Madison is a city of about 190,000 people and home to many UW students.

His name is Davy Mayer. Yes, thats right. He attended a debate and the moderator has to call him "Mr. Mayer (Mayor)." I found that funny, but not as funny as his opposition.

Incumbent. Served six years after a special election when Soglin (below) left office to run for congress (unsuccessfully). She has become quite unpopular, not because of bad decisions, but because of a bad personality and attitude.
Paul Soglin, age 57 http://soglinformayor.com: He was first elected mayor at the age of 27, and served from 1973-79, and again from 1989-97. He used to be considered ultra-liberal, but he is now the most conservative candidate (though that's relative in this town).
Dave Cieslewicz, age 43 http://daveformadison.com: Progressive candidate from the west side.
Bert Zipperer, age 47 http://zippererformadison.org: Progressive candidate from the east side.

Now, I found the prospect of running for office humorous. But not as humorous as I had expected.

Will Sandstrom is, for lack of a better word: insane. Not Skoorb insane, not just Moonbeam insane, completely bat**** insane. Think Skoorb, Moonbeam, Monel, and LordMaul all rolled into one. I know that its RA, but I am not exaggerating when I say he is nuts. When asked to summarize his closing statement in a short speech, he said the following, and I QUOTE this:
"I have been along the borders in Russia, I've been in Russia. I know what organized crime is like. I had bullets flying around me while I ducked into a... building. While, some men are chasing some other men. In one of the cities.. in... Russia. And WHY, WHY does Finland have a thousand mile fence with a five mile distance in it and a fence in Russia so that organized crime can come in like they were trying to do and put the young girls into prostitution. We've got to stop that here now in America and in Madison."
