Just noticed Newegg is now selling the Barton 2500 retail for more than the barton 2600 retail.

Can someone explain to me why?

Still the same:

2500 is 98 after shipping
2600 is 97 after shipping.

Do not mean to be obtuse or silly but this just makes no sense to me.

2500+ CPUs are in higher demand so they will charge more...they tend to overclock better but then again I have never tried to O/C a regular 2600+ Barton...
 
Multipliers are both locked. And with only a 3 degree rise in temps I run the 2600 at 200fsb.

Well, Still makes no sense. Unless people are getting unlocked 2500's

You might get an unlocked 2500. I have one. Weeeeeee. Multiplier of 13 with no problems what so ever.
 
retailers price stuff alot of times at the price they paid by a certain margin, they maybe just got more 2600 at cheaper price. better question is why semprons cost so much. no need to be obtuse.
