update your will, looks like you might be flying over Crimea.

Those maps are generated by Great Circle Map (http://www.gcmap.com/) and pulls up the most direct path between 2 airports, not necessarily a flight plan. Its entirely possible to just stay over the Black Sea out of the direct Crimea area if needed (but might cost time/fuel).

The fact that a jet is that easy to knock out of the sky that someone who can't even identify it properly did the deed, really makes all the airplane security we have seem kind of stupid.

Well to be fair keeping this thing hidden isn't exactly easy to do

What? So civilian aircrafts should start carrying advanced countermeasures now? Lets be real for a moment, this is military versus civilian technology.

Per CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/17/world/europe/ukraine-malaysia-airlines-crash/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

The aircraft was "shot down" over Ukraine by "terrorists" operating a Buk surface-to-air missile system, according to the Facebook page of Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry. There were 280 passengers killed as well as 15 crew members, Gerashchenko's post reads.

If that's true, it looks like one of those missile-rack-on-a-truck things:

Careful on which newsfeeds you follow, pictures are not being censored on some 🙁

You don't understand. This disaster might seem bad, but if one of the passengers had a bottle of shampoo with more than 4 oz of liquid in it, it would have been immeasurably worse.

This isn't the first time a commercial aircraft has been shot down and it won't be the last.

Yeah, so since it's possible for planes to crash or be brought down externally, we should just let people carry whatever they want on board.

Fuck Putin and Fuck the American conservatives who praise Putin:

And fuck those assholes that post pictures of him riding around on an ATV to try to make him into a badass. He's a limp dicked psychopath that murders dissidents and journalists, and he's responsible for destablizing Ukraine. This blood is on his hands, not that it bothers him in the least.

But he has the ability to freeze Western Europe to death, so nothing will happen.

You, too. This isn't about Putin.

That will do wonders for anyone on the ground within miles of each civil airliner pinging the ground and jamming signals.
