I bought this card on newegg for 299 before prices went really crazy. It works great and overclocks good too. I haven't tried higher overclocking but maxes out on CCC at 775/1125 @ 40 percent fan no problem...

No way are ANY of these latest-gen video card deals "hot" or even remotely close. When the things are selling for OVER the MSRP, that's not what most people would consider a good deal.

Yeah, no way I'm paying over MSRP. I'll wait for the new cards to come out and push down the prices of the 5800's. My 8800GT still has some life left in it yet. :)

While true the 5850's are hovering at $300 or a tad more, they certainly aren't hard to find any longer....Newegg, for instance, has had at least 8 different cards/brands in the 5850 line and almost a dozen different cards/brands of the 5870 in stock for over two weeks now.

The 5970, on the other hand, is another story.

got one from TD last week for $299 - $24 Bing cashback.

I don't consider it a deal (far more card than I need, plus the cost...), but I'm acting irrationally these days and since it is currently rotating "out of stock" daily from vendor to vendor, some might consider that offer (and this offer) a "Micro-climatic Hot Deal." :D (The Sapphires are mostly out of stock, depending--my New Egg cart was empty the next day b/c they lost inventory while I was making up my mind on the free PSU deal; but other makers can be found just about anywhere)

Card should arrive tomorrow. will see....

It's all relative. MSRP is too low compared to comp. It's faster than GTX285 for $100 cheaper. Nothing at $300 even comes close as such it's a deal at current pricing.
