I'm member of a very liberal and international party here in Denmark, and I will openly admit that we have been to naive about uncontrolled immigration/refugees and how it affects our society as a whole. How we find the right balance is obviouly difficult and how we handle it more so, but it must be handled, otherwise the extremists parties will grow.

I'm reminded of back when 911 happened and states were getting funding and equipment for the war on terror even though they would never be a target.
Basically a money grab at the state level to win reelection.

Border states get funding and have infrastructure in place to deal with immigration flow.

Republican governor as a political stunt redirected those flows to other states who were unprepared and had to ramp up, diverting money and resources.
The lie being that not enough was being done even though the republican partyvwas directly responsible for stifling efforts to secure the border to prevent democrats from gaining recognition.

So now that Republicans have full control and have shifted strategy from border control to propaganda raids to distract voters from the government teardown and restructuring, will we be served cake?

When people from other cultures meet in the commons, the locals expect the immigrants to act like them and the newcomers want to change the locals into being like them. The problem with bigotry is that it rests on the association of two things, one that is true which gives power to the certainty of the bigoted belief. It is true that religious fanaticism is evil in the sense that fanatics do terrible things that nobody sane would allow them to get away with. This truth unfortunately slops over onto the experience of the bigots past where he or she has absorbed the imbecilic notion, generally by family conditioning or personal negative experience, resulting in an unconscious association that anybody in the class the bigot as decided is automatically a fanatic. In this way it's the bigot who is the fanatic.

In the case of Muslims, they come in all kinds, decent and otherwise and the bigot won't make the distinction. The bigot has become what he fears, dangerously deranged him or her self.
