May have failed one of my last classes...

So I was supposed to graduate this semester, but I have a strong feeling I got a D in one of my CS classes, meaning I'll need to take summer classes. The problem is I am supposed to start in July at a large consulting firm, and I am worried they might rescind my offer over this. Once I find out my grade, and if I didn't pass, I'll have to contact them and let them know my situation. What do you think I should say to them? Also I'd consider talking to the teacher but he's very unsympathetic; I might go to the dean of my school. Thanks for listening - any suggestions or similar situations?

as for advice, if you can start summerschool right away at either some local community college or state college, you might be able to make up for the class by the middle of July... or postpone that class until later =\

Also I can take a summer school class that ends mid July, hopefully I can push back my start date to August.

Out of curiousity, what CS class was it?

Databases :(

Blech...bad memories. Did you at least learn some SQL and/or get comfortable with Oracle/MySQL/whatever they had you using?

CS is a big field...failing DB isn't the end of the world (although it's not a good thing, mind you). Assuming they don't have you streamlining the company database on the first day, you might be okay. I'd start re-reading the textbook and using the web to make sure those concepts you failed to grasp this time are crystal clear the second time around.

I was in the same boat as of yesterday, hoping i didn't bomb one of my classes. Checked my grades today and apparently I aced the final, getting a B+ instead of a C-. You probably did better than you think! If the rest of your records are really really good, then perhaps the company will be willing to overlook it. Talk to your teachers and your advisors i guess. Good luck!
