Maxtor rant...

I RMA'd a defective HDD in May. I received the replacement about twelve days later. wth? This thing produced more noise than all the whining I'll do in this thread. 😉

I get on the phone with them to ask for another replacement since this drive is noisier than the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. I tell their rep the problem and he keeps repeating "if the drive has no error code there's nothing wrong with it". And of course he can't do anything without an error code. WTH!? After ten minutes of pleading my case I say "Enough of this, pass me on to your supervisor" @#%*^&%#!!! Supervisor get on and finally agrees the HDD needs replacing.

So off it goes, and fast forward to present and still no drive. Call them up for status of the drive, their automated service states they haven't received it yet. I confirm from postal delivery that they received it weeks ago. WTF!!? And of course now they've change their support so you can't actually talk to anyone now.

Maxtor...YOU SUCK!!

rant over

and no I don't feel better.😛

When I RMA'd my dead Maxtor drive, I didn't have to provide any error codes nor did I have to speak with a human. I did it online and they sent me a replacement first on the condition that I'd send my bad drive in within 30 days. I got the new drive in 3 days. I was extremely pleased with the service I received, of course.

I wonder why you had such difficulties?

Bad Karma, the wheel has spun round and brought it back

Seriously, their support and warranty terms have suffered horribly in the quest for profits :disgust:
