Does any body know the Maxtor Drive (30 GB / 5400 RMP) model number that CompUSA is selling from 7/1 - 7/4. It is required in the rebate form. I couldn't locate it from the box or packing.

I think it is: 93073H4

5400 RPM, 2 MB buffer, ATA100, 3 yr warranty - all for $59 after rebates.

I saw them in the store today - looks like a pretty good deal even if it is a 5400 rpm drive.

You should put O.T. (Off Topic) in the header.
Welcome to Anandtechs :)
You might also want to enable your PM's

The model number is located on the label on the front of the hard drive itself. Mine had a different model number than that reported by Copperpipe.

Allisolm,

What model # is on your drive? I posted mine based on what I saw on the box and going to the maxtor website.

I bought a Maxtor 40 gig drive a few months ago and I received the $50 mail-in rebate within a month afterwards. So it seemed like Maxtor is fairly responsive in fulfilling their rebates.

«does this qualify for the $50 maxtor ata card rebate..»

The 30GB drive on sale at CompUSA does not qualify for the FastMoney rebate. "...or 30GB or higer 7200 RPM". The slower 30GB drives do not qualify.

Got one today at Naperville, IL. It's a DiamondMax VL 40 5400 rpm model # 33073H3 (Kit - K0193000H.

I got the last one yesterday in King of Prussia, PA. Same model number as above #33073H3.

It's strange how quiet the drive is. I sometimes wonder if it's spinning or not.

gogeeta13,

I PM'd at Staples, but they only match the instant rebate, not the MIR which I think is only available thru CompUSA. I did use the $10 off $40 to purchase for $69 without any MIR hassle. The CompUSA is too far away to bother for the $10 difference. Installed yesterday and it is one quiet drive, compared to the old WD drive grinder that I had in there. During installation the Max Blaster wanted to install the EZ-Bios which I let it do, but later I used the same program to try a test boot w/ EZ-Bios disabled. It worked fine, so then I wentback in w/Max Blaster and removed EZ-Bios all together.

Great drive and a good deal even at $69. Too bad though, this deal is over.

33073H3 doesn't have 2MB cache(only 512K). I remember that it should
have 2MB buffer cache. Anyone got 9000 family.
