Sorry, that isn't too good of a deal. You can find the 15 gb one at pricewatch for roughly the same price. For hard drives, I would ay $5 per gb for 7200 rpm drives would be a hot deal.

Try buy.com, they've got the Western Digital 20GB, 7200 RPM HD for approx. $150, and you can use a $10 off coupon (new customers), or free shipping (which usually saves you about $5-7). And there's a $30 rebate from Western Digital. Search the forum about it.

The IBM 75GXP. But between those two, I would go for the new Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 40.

This is an almost hot deal considering Outpost.com's free overnight shipping and 5% back from eBates.com

Best Buy recently had the Maxtor 15GB 7200 RPM Diamond Max Plus 40 for only $99, price match OD against Best Buy and get it for $84 with no shipping hassles now that was a HOT deal.

edit:

wje - Thanks, good catch. My link has been fixed ...

Staples has the Maxtor 40 Plus 15GB drive for $99.94 in-store. You can call the online store and they will match it for you (online price is $129.99). YOu can then use a $25 off $75 coupon (code #90645), and you've got yourself the drive for $74.94. It's verified, I have it in my system, ordered on Wednesday.

RossMan,

The link to Outpost.Com that you put up takes us to an LCD monitor -- and not a hard drive.

yakswak,
that 15GB Maxtor drive for $99 at Staples is ONLY 5,400 rpm!!! The label says it's 7,200 rpm, but when you check the number on the drive itself, you will find out that it's just 5,400 rpm. Still a good price for 15GB HD...

Lukfilm: I have the package in my hand! So maybe they just made a mistake and I got lucky if what you're saying is true. I just told them I saw an ad for the same drive for $99.94, and they matched it for the 7200rpm drive.

buy.com has the 15GB 75GXP drive for 108, and I think there is a 10 off and free shipping coupon floating around,, so you could get it for 98

Hey Gang,
Ok I am having all kinds of trouble with the 'puter and I am going to have to reinstall windows 98; I figure now is a good time to upgrade to a larger HD. My current one is 6gig and it is pretty darn near full. I can't spend more than $100 (single dad). Can somebody walk me thru a good deal on a 20+ gig for around $100. I am a newbie to all this price matching stuff. Also, how hard is it to transfer the stuff some the old drive to the new one? Are selective transfers possible? Any help is appreciated. I am running an AMD k62 300mhz if that makes any difference.

Thanks!!!

10gig for $99 is not a good deal... I got a 30gig Maxtor 7200 at Staples for 179.00 -40.00 coupon and free PC100 32 MB ram.
That's a little better.
