Maxtor Hard disk question

Hello,

I had a Maxtor D740X-6L that the hard disk heads were bumping inside the hard disk case when I shut down my computer, I received a new hard disk from Maxtor and is doing the same thing, does anyone has the same problem I am having with this Maxtor hard disk?

hello,

I disconnected my other hard disk, cloned Win2K to the hard disk that is having the problem and is the only one that is making the noise. The noise happens when my computer shuts down, when the hdd heads are aligning, they are hitting the hdd case inside.

Sounds like the heads may just be parking. If so, no problem.

I have two Maxtors and thats what they do, my IBM's did the same.

Same here. I get a light clicking sound from either of my Maxtor D740X's just as my box powers off. I get this same type of noise, but a little quieter, from my 4 IBM 60GXP's also.
