Maxtor drives - accoustic program

Could someone provide me with a link to adjust the accoustic settings on a maxtor hd? I recall reading about such a program a while back and I can't seem to find it 🙁

are there any neg's to adjusting the acustics??? ie: less speed? more heat? etc? is louder better or is quiet the way to go (in terms of performance)?

Of course lower the sound level would up your seek times a bit and probably slow overall performance a little. But in my case, even the slightest unnecessary noise really affects me so I try to minimize it if I can 🙂

DigitlDrug,

As Rinox99 indicated, you get a trade off in speed. The acoustic management effects the seek speed of heads and reduces overall speed. Personally I don't care how loud the drives are...my Labtec is usually kickin' somethin' over it anyway.
