Maxtor Drive copy ?

I bought a new Maxtor Hard drive and tried to copy the contents of my old hard drive over to the new drive. And i keep geting a error when starting the new drive that some sys file is missing. Any thughts on this ?
Bothe drives are Maxtor.
Running win XP.
 
I am not sure, but you might have to paritition it and format it first before trying to copy over a paritition.
 
Are you configuring the new drive (called destination) as MASTER and making you old drive (called source) SLAVE then booting from A:\ with included floppy?
