If all you're going to use is LVD hard drives on the SCSI card, then get the LSI. If you think you may ever want to use some old SE SCSI stuff on there too, then get the 19160 (if it has the SE stub).

Why do you wan't an ULTRA 160 card? It would only take 2 drive to flood the bandwith that thing offers. An LSI ULTRA 320 card is about the same price $177 on NEWEGG.COM for a Dual Channel controller or for $22 less you can get the single channel version of that same card. (I recommend the 2 channel card)

You were also talking about raid, I don't think the adaptec 19160 offers RAID support like these two LSI cards do.

If you have the extra cash to spend (about $150 more) I would HIGHLY advise moving up to the LSI mega-raid line of cards, for the extra cash you get better performance, a dedicated IO processor, and 64-128mb of cache for your drives.

because i have only 1 scsi drive attached and would probably only put 2 on a card, so the u160 is fine for me, plus i think i picked my lsi card up for ~$38 about 1.25 years ago.

Well then, I would keep it and consider an Ultra 320 Mega-Raid something to upgrade to in the future. It would make a nice differance in the performance of your drives.
