I think this deal can be made better. The model number on the $199 60GB 5400RPM drive is K0196000H, and according to the Maxtor web site K01 drives qualify for the $50 rebate when you buy it with the Maxtor ATA/100 PCI controller (SKU #443233). Add that for $49.98 at Staples and you've got a free ATA/100 controller in addition to a big honkin' drive.

$157 is a good deal too for 60GB. But what I really want is a deal on the big honkin' Maxtor 80GB drive! :)

I did a similar pricematch a while back through some online store with staples. Thing worked out to ~$140! It has worked great in my TiVo.

AWESOME ! Just got the Maxtor 60GB Drive and the Maxtor PCI EIDE ATA100 Controller Card for a grand total of $226.77 - $50 REBATE = $176.77 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The PCI Controller card is swweeeeeeeeeeet! It has 4 EIDE Connectors. And if your like me, with lots of hard drives and no more space on the mobo, this is awesome.

The guys at Staples rock!

I have the Maxtor 45 GB 5500 drive. It has an annoying habit of taking 1-2 second "coffee breaks" - probably the thermal recalibration thingy. No disk errors, but I wouldn't do video capture or other time sensitive job on the thing.

To clarify the controlle card has 2 IDE ports which of course supports up to 4 devices.

You could do a RAID Level 1 of two 80-Gig drives and get a total 160 GB "drive" - now, that's something.

Actually you'd need to do that in RAID 0. In RAID 1 you would only get 80GB out of two 80GB drives.

Nice Deal!

I'm shopping for the Maxtor 30.7GB (53073H4 NOT 53073H6). I wish Staples or Buy.com carried the higher density model :(
