What the hell are you talking about Flokster, it's a freaking disaster now.
In the past three years I went through six hard drives, mostly IBM's and Western Digital's.
Yet, I still have my trusty Seagate 1.2 gigger buzzing along merrily after 6 years of use.

That's not exactly true. The fastest solid state drive I've seen can push 50mb/sec which is slower than drives but it's seek time would be measured in microseconds. And flash can easily be scaled higher.solid state storage (flash) is much slower than any current hds
