Got in too :D took 2 calls (first csr wouldn't PM to any site) and got PM'd to 95.90 :D (compuplus match). Ordered a keyboard for $15 (so I could use the $20/100 coup)and total with tax came to $96.34. We'll see about the 2 rebates but even if only 1 gets honored it is still $66 for a Hdd and keyboard :D

This is weird! The label says it's a model "L01J080G", but W2K is reporting it's a "6L080L4" drive. What's up with that? Can I run something, maxtor util, that will tell me what drive I have?

Thanks!

The $50 off of $200 coupon still exists for staples.com, but you'll have to hunt for it.

If you get the 32x CenDyne cd-rw, it'll bump your order over $200 so that you can use this handy coupon.

Our numbers then become:
159.96 (+tax) before rebate
79.96 (+tax) after rebate

not bad at all.

This is a great deal for this HD with only one (1) rebate but why all the talk of two (2) rebates? I printed out BOTH rebate forms and both OBVIOUSLY go to the same fullfillment center. Rebate #1 (02-49446) is OBVIOUSLY for purchases at STAPLES.COM ONLY from 8/4 through 9/28. Rebate #2 (02-49051) is OBVIOUSLY for purchases at STAPLES (B&M) ONLY form 8/11 through 8/17. Why all the talk of getting two $30 rebates? Multiple submissions of this rebate could be considered fraud. Am I missing something or are there a large number of deluded people out there? If I am wrong - sorry, but people get other's hopes up for nothing. If I am wrong - plese prove me wrong!

Ive had staples fulfill two of my rebates before. Just tell them there was a manufactuer's rebate, and one from staples itself. The csr said since I was a valued customer, It was fine.

Tried to match compuplus by emailing Staples.com (after the purchase). Received this reply:

The manufacturer has informed us that Compuplus is not an authorized reseller for their products. As a result, the manufacturer cannot verify the parts and accessories of this product as sold by this site. Our price match policy states that the item must be new and identical. In order for this site to sell this product, it is either not new (direct from the manufacturer) or has been altered in some way and no longer contains original equipment. Therefore, we will not honor this price match request.

What bullcr*p. Any number of people matched with compuplus here and on fatwallet.

Maybe doing this by email gives them time and patience to dig up an excuse?

I used a printout of the Compuplus web page at the store and they matche no problem. Regarding 2 rebates, one is for staples the other goes to the same clearing house but is for Maxtor.

I ordered w/ a 110% pricematch w/ PCClub, used the $20 off $100 couponn for a total of $93.49 delivered. After the 2 $30 dollar rebates it will total $33.49, awesome deal. Staples will except a copy of the original UPC code for the rebate as long as the manufacturer requires the original UPC for their rebate. If you're uneasy about it, as i was, call a Staples CSR, then order one before they run out! :D

OK for all those rebate hounds out there: I have found three (3), yes three rebates for this HD. #1 goes to Dept. 02-49300 and constantly refers to Maxtor (Maxtor recommends that you ...). #2 goes to Dept. 02-49446 and is for Staples.com. #3 goes to Dept.02-49051 and refers to Staples (B&M?) only. All three go to McAllen and all require the original UPC. Yes, I have read (in the threads) where you can send the original here and a copy there but I am still confused. Can anyone make sense out of this for all who purchased (or might purchase)?

How could you send in more than one rebate if they require the original rebate? Has any one gotten two rebate checks back before on the same item?

I just got off the phone with a Staples csr and took advantage of this deal.. I pricematched the hard drive against the one at compulus ($105). I also ordered a microsoft USB optical mouse they had on special for $19.94 (item #490578).. Then I added the $20 off $100 coupon for a grand total off $111.46. Combined with the mail in rebate for $30 bucks this should bring my order down to $80 bucks. Not too shabby. I think the other rebate people are talking about in this forum is expired. I believe this is the one from staples not from the manufacturer.

I just got off the phone with a very nice sales rep. Apparently she's new at what she's doing as the entire phone order took about 30 minutes! :frown: But anyway, with her supervisor by her side, I was able to pricematch it against mwave.com $116.xx ($108+$8.xx shipping), and apply the $20 off coupon. The total for the drive was $106.xx with after tax.

Hopefully both the $30 rebates will get through. Even if only 1 goes through, $77 for this drive is pretty good in my book.

Has anybody else received a postcard from Staples stating that "The wrong UPC was submitted" for this offer? When I looked up my rebate status I noticed this and then looked at the title and it was showing $30 off a 40GB drive instead of the $30 off an 80GB drive like it should have. I used the rebate form link which was on the 80GB drive page to get the rebate...

I just got off the phone with Staples and they have verified the rebate. If you ordered this online then the item description definitely shows a $30 rebate for the drive.

Haven't had any problems with Maxtor Rebates, and it is staples and they have the best rebates.

If it isn't TCA it is probably ok

Oh, and ATA 100 and ATA 133, it doesn't matter, Maxtor is the only company making ATA133 drives. The difference is basically the burst transfer rate (?). They will run about the same speed on larger files.

For anyone who got in on this deal, in particular, part #L01J080G, two questions:

1- does this include the ATA/133 PCI Card?
2- is this the Fluid Bearing model?

Thanks.
