i have a 7200.10 for a while. it was rather noisy and produced a lot of heat. there are reviews the back this up. this is relative to my t7k250 hitachi which is virtually silent.

I have had this drive for the past few months, and I recommend it to anyone who asks. It's fast, reliable, and you can't beat it at this price. I bought it when it was 99.99 with free shipping, and now they dropped it another 10 bucks!

how do you get staples to price match? Print out the page and bring it with me?

yup

i printed out frys.com ad as well as staples
pointed out the part numbers and told them i was trying to match frys electronics price
they didn't even look at whether or not it was frys.com

plus its 110% price match on their site, see if they will allow you to get that extra 10% and use your ink coupons to bring it down a bit more

Mine, will arrive tomorrow sometime according to the delivery estimate. I'll report back if it is a remarked Seagate 7200.10 drive, hopefully it is.

also where they're made please.. thanks ~

Alright everybody I just got mine in the mail, I have good news here are the details

On the back sticker it says,

DiamondMax 21
Product of Thailand
Manufactured by Seagate Technology International

At the bottom it says, "3.5 Series 7200.10"

I couldn't find a manufacture date or anything but it looks like this is definetely a rebadge Seagate 500GB hard drive. I'll install it later and see how it goes.

thailand and malaysia made drives were the ones many had problems with (from newegg comments). they should be fine but i suspected they rebadged from some batch other the [better?] china and singapore made drives.

I got mine, 7200.10, made in thailand though🙁

I really hope I'm not going to have any problems.

I thought these drives had a five year warranty on them?

3 Year Limited Manufacturer Warranty. Check the OPs link.

I got mine today.
Drive is .10
I am not worried about lifespan and noise issues.
A 3 year warranty on this drive ,
I cannot remember the last time I had a drive for more than 24 months
and lifespan around me is more like 18 months on average.
That is time lapse before I sell or upgrade.

Think about it what is longest period of time you have ever used the same drive ?

it says 3 year warranty right on the box in a yellow sticker on mines?

.10 and thailand...

The drives with Seagate branding are 5yr, Maxtor 3yr, same design, same manufacturing facilities (supposedly).

So here's my Fry's experience: I just received the 1 drive I ordered, only it wasn't the drive I ordered. It was the Seagate 500GB PATA...

5 Minutes on hold, 5 minutes discussing the issue, and I get authorization to return ship on their dime, free 2 day shipping back to me (and I upped my order to 3 drives). They're charging my card for the replacement drive until they receive this one tho.

Decent customer service, terrible website. The reason I had to place the phone order originally (which is why it got messed up) is because their address verifier thinks my address isn't a valid street address. I suppose 2 digits and 4 words makes for an odd street. Their shipping calculator also empties my cart when I try to use it.

Ok I just got my HD, anyone know why I only get 479gb from the drive when I use a USB 2.0 adapter to hook up to it?

Thanks.

Thanks.

When you format the drive, the quoted size is never actual amount of usable space on the drive,
I can't remember exactly, but it goes back to the whole 1 MB is 1024KB and not 1000kb so its off by a little. when you get to large size drives that "little" adds up to multiple gigs.

a 120 gig wont actually give you 120 gigs of usable space, its less than the quoted size on the box.

i never received a confirmation e-mail.

did you guys?

i'm not sure if the order actually went through yesterday.

I'm still using my first seagate drive from 2001.😉

I forgot to print my first order page, and I didn't make an express account. Never got the confirmation, so I ordered another one, also didn't get the email, but this time I kept the order # and it already shipped 😛 Guess I have 2 of them coming now 😀
