maxtor 40 gig appears as 30 gigs...

i purchased a maxtor 40 gig 7200 rpm eide drive not too long ago. it only appeared as a 30 gig in the bios. the model number is 6L040L2. it's pretty odd, and it has performed flawlessly to date. i didn't have the chance to return it since i desperately needed a new drive for linux for the school quarter. now that the quarter is coming to an end, i'm trying to figure this problem out. i thought it might be a firmware issue, but haven't tried flashing my bios yet. i'm running an epox 8kha+ and haven't had any issues with it so far. anybody else have similar problems like this? thanks

edit, wrong model #

whats your operating system dude?

mostly likely its your limitation jumper set in the back on R46. take it off R46 and place whatever there is no limitation jumper.

If you are using Win 2k/XP and trying to format it as a FAT32 drive, you are limited to a 32GB drive. Win 2k/XP will support larger drives than 32GB using FAT32 but the largest they can format is 32GB. If this is your case either use NTFS (which is far superior to FAT32) or use a Win 98/ME boot disk to format the drive.
