Also got mine delivered today, no e-mail confirmation. Was wrapped in only a Tyvek plastic envelope, which I guess is ok since it's just coming from the local Office Depot warehouse. The invoice was handed to me by the Office Depot delivery person, so there was nothing inside the Tyvek envelope itself.

I have used this coupon once before, will it let me use it again? My concern is that they will charge me full price for it after I order if they will not, but I will not know until then because it shows in my cart even though I am logged in.

took the chance and ordered, I had used the coupon before but it let me use it again. Delivery due on 10/29, not bad for $34.19 after rebate.

As always ymmv, but the last time I used a coupon at OD twice, they called me and cancelled my order. :Q
They specifically told me that they had recently instituted a policy to track all online coupons, and since I was using this coupon again, my order would not be sent. Also made some kind of reference about "tracking the internet path on coupons, as many were being posted on websites & being abused by people who were not meant to receive them" (her words, not mine).

This happened in August. Since then I have placed many orders with OD, all using coupons, but never the same coupon twice. I have had no further problems, but advise against using the same coupon twice.

They may not catch you, but then again, maybe they will.

If that happens, no biggy. they had better credit my account in a reasonable amount of time, rather than the 3 weeks and several phone calls it took last time I returned something to them.

Hmmm, I tried to backorder this using the online coupon but I keep getting the error regarding the coupon - I think it's cuz the backordered item has no price therefore the order doesn't meet the coupons requirement of min. order of $75 - Any help out there on how to remedy this?

Thx

worked out for me. Let me explain what I did. I kept trying to order it online but when I selected local store pick up it said "This item cannot be backordered for pickup."

So I called their web tech help and told them the error. They said its because the store doesnt have the item. I then asked if he could check all local stores to see if they had the item. he xfered me to customer service. The extremely helpful agent checked local stores, found one that had the item. I tried selecting that store online and got the same error message. After telling her that, she said must be a technical prob on web. She called that store to check inventory, put one oh hold and asked if I wanted to order for pick up through her. I said sure, but i wanted to use the $20 off promo and she said given the technical problems she'll go ahead and apply it as we speak. So, in 4 hours, ive got to goto the local store to pick up an item for $64.94 (incl sales tax) then minus $30 rebate = 34.94. Not bad. A dollar a gig. ($1.16 w/tax)

Morale: Call customer service and say I got an error online and tech suppport said it was b/c the store didnt have any in stock. Can you check for me?

Ult3,

Thx for the tip, unfortunately for me, there are no local stores for OD in New England - they pulled out a few years ago, so my only chance to cash in on an OD deal is via the web and I still am stuck with the coupon don't work on backorders cuz backorders have a $0 value problem.

Anyone else have any suggestions or should I give up on the $1/Gig HD.

Thx mucho

Good deal !! $1 per GHz !! (hehehe $1/Gigabyte)
I ordered mine yesterday before I leave work, I got the comfirmation email immediately after ordering, I printed out everything and left work to pick it up, it says it will be ready for pick up after 4 hours on the order form, but I said I will give it try since OD is on my way home .. I picked it up without problems!!
I don't know if the print out from the order along with the email comfirmation will be as good as a receipt to send for the rebate !?

Then I went home to install it ! that was a real pain ! I pull out my old drive and put in the new drive as "cable select" master, reboted the PC with the MaxBlast Plus II floppy and CD in, I tried to follow the instructions in the book to format the drive, but the software that came out was totally different than what it says in the book !! it was a dos based program and did not give me the option to select a format for XP. So I put my old drive back, went online and downloaded the MaxBlast Plus II from maxtor website, even thought the floopy is supposed to have the same version (1.3) but when I booted the PC with the one I downloaded, it was the right program and let me format the drive as NTFS, what's strange is that it took less than a second to do that ! I put it as a second drive with my IBM drive and booted my PC to make sure it did format it befrore I install XP it, and I was able to see it in explorer as a formated NTFS drive !! so now I took my old drive out, rebooted the PC with "boot from CD" in my BIOS selected with win XP pro CD in the CD ROM, but I got a message telling me NTLDR is missing ! so once again back to my old drive >>I downloded the XP boot floppy from bootdisks, and rebooted the PC with the floopy and win XP CD, I followed the instruction, by going to 386i folder and typing winnt.exe, but it says could not find a place to put the swap file ! this is when I gave up ! I don't know what I'm doing wrong !
The only thing I can think of is to reformat the drive as FAT32 so it will be recognized in DOS, install XP, then change it to NTFS after the install is done !

The drive is super quiet but that does not do me any good, till I get a quiet pentium IV !
The drive does generate way more heat than my IBM, when I touched it after few minutes it felt like 45-50C !! The IBM stayed cool. Maybe it's because of that liquid bearing thing !

Good luck getting one guys !! maybe I will get another one for a new RAID configuration system !! I don't know if I can send the rebate again for the same addredd and name !

You can use the same coupon more that once by making a new account with a different email address, just like you do for OfficeMax coupons.

I havent installed mine yet but when I do, I will let Windows XP handle all the details. Boot from your CD Rom and follow XP prompts. Good Luck,

Max

Anyone knows if the maxtor rebates are exclusive? I just received my $30 rebate check for the 40GB Maxtor HD I bought from OD in August. Maxtor rebate form stated that one check per household, but do they mean one check per offer or one check only across all Maxtor products?

The reason I ask this is that I had a bad experience with Microsoft over this. They once rejected my rebate application because they found that they send me a rebate check for the same game controller two years ago. Well, the second one I bought was to replace the first one that was broken, but they said they only give one rebate for each product...

This is a 30GB drive whereas the other one you got was a 40GB drive. They are different rebates.

This is a good deal, so much so I bought two for my RAID setup. I've got one and its a Diamond MAx Plus 8 with p/n 6E030L0. The question now is can I get the rebate for both drives? Both drives are coming to the same household.

Do you plan on sending the two rebates to different address?
