Yeah but there Seagate drives in them now. That's why I jumped on one.

Are the new Maxtors just rebadged Seagates? Do they offer perpendicular technology on new Maxtors?

Today I received an email from Frys.com stating that they want payment for the chargeback or they are taking me to collections. Wonderful. :|

So, the box was sealed but it was empty?
Or was the box open and empty?
What was the weight booked by the shipping company? You can see the weight when you track the package.

It was sealed with no signs of tampering. It had a few pieces of air pockets for filling, and nothing else in it. Shipped weight was 6 pounds.

It's much easier to reach peeps at night, and they're also much more amicable to resolving your problem. ;)

But, most of the weight is for the drive itself. If the drive is missing, the box should be much lighter than expected.
Did you not notice that it was too light when you received it?

That last question was really out of curiosity. It does not matter now to you.

But, did you discuss the issue with outpost politely?
It is odd that they would jeopardize their business over a single hard drive!

Two hard drives, not one. Yes the box was really light. I was up late and the doorbell woke me up. Signed and was handed the box. Stood there a moment trying to think what I had ordered that would be shipped DHL. In the meantime the driver took off.

Yes I was polite to Outpost in both emails and the one phone conversation. I was told over the phone that someone would investigate this and I would receive a phone call within 4 business days. I received no such call, but did receive a reply to my email stating something like "we see by your records that the issue has been resolved, thank you for shopping at Frys.com." After 5 business days I tried phoning them again and couldn't get through - constant disconnects. So, after around 3 hours of trying to get through on the phone spread out over a week (not including time spent on emails and actual time talking to a CSR the one time I did get through) I called my credit card company.

I just dug that out from my Gmail. Valued Frys.com customer my hairy ass! Just in the past 12 months I've placed 19 orders with them totalling about $3700, not counting previous few years.. This was order #20 in the 12 month period.
