I got this drive on sale for $89 a few weeks ago. This is a really good deal. It's a great drive too. And it's actually 320 gigs not 300. They give you a "bonus" 20 gigs.

Looks like a good deal, especially if you get a 320GB drive. Plus tax for some states, still a good price regardless.

Why is the warranty only for 1 year?
Isn't a 3-year warranty a standard?

I think these are actually the 300gb drives...and not the 320gb....I ordered this last time they had the special about a month ago..and it was the 300gb one.

Same here. I can use another drive for the inevitable Vista [required clean] "upgrade" from windows xp. :)

Oh..and the drive does carry a 3 year warranty according to Maxtor's website

Don't know how you know that, but thanks; how does this drive compare to the 7200.10, and can they be raid 0 together?

Some got 300GB and some got the 320GB. I think the 300GB is the 7200.9 and the 320GB is the 7200.10 drive.

This model: L01F300 Might just be the 320gb, because peeps are selling that model # on Ebay as a 320gb.

Will wait and see what I get.

This drive was at Fry's BM on New Year Day and today for the same price. I didn't even know that Fry's opened on New Year Day.

off topic, but if you have one drive setup can u adda nother of the same and build a raid 0 array without having to reformat the 1st? I know you can setup a raid 1, but thats just mirroring. :D

i keep hearing throughout the IT industry that Maxtor is unreliable. Have all you had good luck with them? Drive fail? DOA?

I just started buying WD and have never bought anything else because I've never had a problem, but Maxtors are so much cheaper

Maxtor had some bad batches in the past, but I've been lucky so far - 5 Maxtor drives and all still alive (knock on wood)
I had a brand new Seagate that developed bad sectors on the 1st week - go figure!

Well Maxtor is Seagate now...from what I hear, it's a Seagate 7200.9 drive on this deal.

Good that you got yours. Last time these were on sale, I ordered two and Outpost shipped me an empty box. :( Still waiting on the CC company at this time, since nobody at Outpost seemed to want to help - that is if one can reach a live body on phone.
