Yes, the B+M will give the price match. I just brought in my emailconfirmation and they credited the card I used online, not only $20 but they added tax as well. Final cost: $99.99-$30/100 coupon-$20 rebate-$20.95 price match = $29.04

Even better, it was waiting on my deck for me when I got home from getting the price match!
 
Would anybody happen to live close to a staples and can order/buy for me? I'll pay you for your troubles if you could. It's all sold out in the Bay Area 🙁 Thanks in advance!
 
I am pschyed. I wrote a POLITE complaint letter to staples.com about not doing the PM for the extra $20 off, and they responded saying they will credit my card for the difference this time! My total price is now $36!!!
Furthermore, they are going to forward my complaint to corporate for their review of their own inconsistencies.

For those of you doing both the ATA100 controller and drive rebates, how do you handle the need for two original UPC labels (one for each rebate) ? I didn't get the ATA100 controller yet (but did get the drive), but am thinking about it. Thoughts ?

My, my, Lizardboy; touchy aren't we. In the time and space it took you to flame me, you could have written something worthwhile but I guess that would be asking too much. Funny how no one objects all many useless babbling posts (the ones that make a long thread like this one hard to read) yet pounce on actual, real questions. Go figure.
 
Im trying to get a copy of the maxtor 100 ata card and 40 gig drive. I did this deal in december but I did not know the rebate form was expired. Now i need receipts that are dated after january 1, 2000 for the rebate. Anyone that can help I can throw $5.00 paypal your way for the effort!

Finally got my HD...the controller card came a wk before the HD. Everything is installed, I am going to send out the rebates today. I tried emailing them to PM the store but they said they won't price match that weekend's price because that price was in-store only. I am gonna try emailing again.

RebatesHQ is invalidating the Maxtor ATA100 $50 rebates for this second promotion. I was checking on the status of my rebates here and found that they had invalidated my rebate because they were still using the criteria for the first promotion where you had to by a 40GB or higher drive. The second promotion relaxed the hard drive size criteria. I talked to them yesterday at 888-241-6208 and explained the problem. They said they would investigate and for me to call back Thursday. I figured I would give everyone who got in on this deal a heads up. You may want to check your rebate status and give them a call if you were rejected.

They invalidated my $50 rebate for the same reason, no Maxtor 40GB Drive UPC. I argued with them for over 30 minutes on the phone this morning and asked to speak to a Supervisor. She said I would need to send in the rebate form again with copies of my Maxtor 20GB Drive UPC. I said I already sent in the 20GB Drive UPC and did not have a copy. She suggested I write to Maxtor's Customer Service Department and gave me the address. THIS REALLY SUCKS!

Thanks for the link. I sent them an email asking that they contact the rebate center and advise them of the new terms of the rebate offer. The rebate center Supervisor told me that I would need to send in a copy of the 20GB drive kit UPC and another rebate form if Maxtor authorized the change in rebate terms. I had a copy of the UPC but lost it when I uninstalled my scanner software (bummer). Guess I'll just have to SCREAM really loud if I want my $50 rebate. Next time I'll print the damn thing! THIS REALLY SUCKS
 
Does anyone have any printable coupons that staple has emailed to you? If so could you please hook me up..I have a potentially good deal in the works here.

any B&M store that carries this controller card, sells it for $49.99. there's a $10 off $40 purchase coupon floating around somewhere, good for Staples B&M purchase.

i'm glad i didn't send in my rebates yet. $20 Staples rebate submission must be postmarked by 3/20/01, and $50 Maxtor rebate (for the controller card) submission must be postmarked by 4/30/01. if Maxtor changes their policy regarding the controller card rebate, in combination with the 20 GB drive, someone please let us know. if all the rebates pay out accordingly, i will have ended up paying $15 for the 20 GB drive and the controller card. (Staples: $99.99 - $30/100 coupon - $20 price adjustment - $20 rebate = $29.99, and Office Depot: $49.99 - $15/50 coupon - $50 rebate = -$15.01) thank you Anandtech for the hot deal.

Sorry if I missed anything reading through the forums really fast, but I know that they're not requiring the 40GB model for the 2nd promotion. I sent in my UPC for a 30GB I got the previous week from the BB pricematch and my rebate was approved.

Best advice would be to contact Maxtor via email and let them know about this. Afterall, their webpage is even hosting the plain explicit details!
 
I called Maxtor customer service today. They transferred me to a nice lady named Linda who coordinates the rebates for Maxtor. She said that they were aware of the problem and she contacted Parago (rebateshq) yesterday to correct the error. She told me to call rebteshq back. She said if they would not validate the rebate to call her back. I called Parago/rebateshq and spoke to a CSR. I explained the problem and she seemed confused as usual (wanted me to send a copy of everything). Explained to her I would not do that because this is a problem they need to correct. She noticed the notes on my rebate from Monday and said to wait two weeks and check back, that it should be corrected by then. I said I would wait one week and check back. These people don't have a clue. They either want a copy of everything or tell you to wait weeks. That's ok, I'll get my rebate one way or another.
