At Compusa
Original price = $350
Instant rebate = $50
Mail-in rebate = $100
Total = $200

I just bought mine today :)

They also have rebates for 120GB Western Digital HD 8MB cache
Price = $200 - $70 MIR = $130

Yeah, this seems high for a 120GB. Anything over $1/GB is not a hot deal. Did you mean 200GB? If so not a bad deal.

WOW, yeah I mistyped it.
So, Maxtor 200GB for 200 after MIR
WD 120GB for 130 after MIR
and Compusa by Maxtor 80GB for 70 after MIR

thanks for the correction guys :)

What's the policy with rebates again? I purchased the Maxtor 120GB from Compusa late last year and should be receiving rebate checks any day now. Can I buy another drive and be eligible for another set of rebates?

I'm pretty sure you can...
on the rebate receipt it says that "offer good on purchase made between March 1 & March 8, 2003 ar CompUSA only. All rebate requests must be postmarked by March 31, 2003 and received no later than April 2003."

I assume that since you purchased your hard drive when they were having the promotion then, it should be okay for you to purchase another one with the current promotion. However, contact compusa to be sure though.

anyone try this at staples yet?
should be sku# IM1815517 (phone only)

i am lazy to call in and dont have the money anyways.
probably $350 at staples so..
$350 - 200 = 150
350 - 1.1*150 = 185
185 - 30 coupon = $155! maybe?

Just tried to pull this off.... First off they won't do it unless your CompUSA store is open so they can verify stock... Secondly the rep says the execs said the rebate is available from staples, so they won't pm it... I will post back tomorrow after i try this again.. when compusa is open.

Well.. I just got off the phone with Staples and they will not price match the item.... according to the CSR they do not price match all items.

Also note this is a rebetesHQ rebate, so you might want to read this thread in Off-Topic

And note that with CompUSA you're paying tax on $300 and having to wait on the $100 rebate. It's still a hot deal to save $25 off of Newegg / mwave prices, as long as you aren't bothered by having $100 tied up for weeks or months.
