Yea, yea I know 1 year Warranty :thumbsdown: get a Seagate with a five year warranty instead. Well 1) Seagate bought Maxtor so I would think the QC is the same and you are just paying extra for the warranty, 2) the $35 Seagate charges you to ship a new drive will buy a bigger and faster one next year so why bother, and 3) I have a 16 month Seagate Barracuda that is now a paperweight because "The product you identified was sold as a system component. You must contact your place of purchase for any warranty support on these drives." and after 1 hour on hold HP said forget it "No drive for you." What good is a 5 year warranty if you can't use it

I am slowly switching all my Maxtor IDE drives out for Seagate sata drives...1-320 gig installed and 4 more to go, nice that these have the 5 year warranty to
 
what a pleasant surprise. ordered on Tuesday with free ground shipping and DHL delivered today. Mind you 2 day shipping was $12 or something. All my drives since 1999 have been Maxtors, never a problem with any and all of them are still running!!!

Site says Ships Free. Call 1-877-OUTPOST (1-877-688-7678) with your order number and they will reverse the shipping charge.

Wait two weeks and the deal will be back at Outpost, or search Hot Deals for other great PATA deals.
 
Just got my SATA 1.5 200GB today and SURPRISE! the box says SATA 1.5Gb, the drive is a SATA II/3.0 drive. Holy cow for $50 great deal! If you got yours just check the label on the drive not the box, it says SATA II/3.0Gb, and there's a switch for forced 1.5Gb if you using 1.5 controller.

Holy cow mine is a SATA II/3.0 drive too. The motherboard for the computer this is going in only supports SATA 1.5Gb so what do I have to switch?
 
you needn't switch, worked out of box for me, my controller also 1.5 only, no problem tho. Only if your motherboard is VIA based. Mine is nforce 3 chipset so no problem.
