Maxtor 200GB $89.99 after $20 MIR at Office Depot 1/30-2/05.
I think there's a $15 off $75 Staples coupon out there. (My OD takes competitor's coupons.) Don't know about others.

$109.00 + $6.60 tax= 116.59 - $20 MIR= $96.59 AR

I used their competitor Staples' $15 off $75 rebate, and it WORKED!

$109.99 - $15 coupon= $94.99 + $6.65 tax= $101.64 - $20 MIR= $81.64 AR (Booo Yaaaaa!!!)

What I don't get about Maxtor drives is the retail version has less warranty than the OEM version.
Newegg has this drive for $105.25 shipped with a 3 year warranty. So I guess the question is would you pay $25 extra for a additional 2 year warranty?

For those interested, Amazon is currently running a promotion on the same sized drive of the Seagate variety. $136.99 - $40.00 Rebate = $96.99 with Super Saver Shipping and no tax in most states.

For those that have to contend with state sales tax, end result is approximately the same price, but as most know Seagate PATA drives carry a five year standard warranty as opposed to the one year Maxtor warranty.

Product link.

um, so we're discussing 200gb hds... and you advertise in the wrong forum for 60gb hds. congratulations. lol.

dc...thread's about HDDs....right?

mere dialogue shouldn't set off your superior sense of cynicism... I'm humbled.

dh...I mean dc

EIDE (Ultra ATA/133)🙁
allisolm, I sure hope the stores run out of these so that we can start to get the SATAs on the cheap. Keep up the good work and soon, all that will be left are the 5year SATAs.
😀😀😀 Probably right after we use up all the 150 SATAs.😀😀😀

Thanks for the deal. My store took the staples 15 off 75 coupon (ended last night). So 100 OTD + $20 rebate makes this $80. Thanks for the heads up.

BTW, the store manager happened to be ringing up my purchase and ordered the rest of the stock off the shelf after seeing a bunch of drives go out the door in this fashion.

coupon 38279398 didnt work online, so i called their customer service line and the rep was able to do an over ride to get me the $20 off. the cost of the hard drive at time of purchase was now 89.99 then there is a $20 mail in rebate, making the end cost $69.99. not bad for a 200 gig hard drive.

What are you talking about man? PATA is still superior to SATA in most ways, except for the better airflow due to the thinner cable. I'm loving it that the PATAs are going cheaper now because of SATA's existance. SATA is a dog, until they fix the cable-interference/connector-locking/power-usage/compatibility issues. Hopefully SATA-II will change things a bit.

SATA-II reportedly will "change things a bit".
Regardless of the current issues with SATA, I (along with most others) still appreciate the cabling ease and the relative simplicity of the genre. There is often difficulty with change and maybe SATA II will put us all on the path to Nirvana.

In the meantime, allisolm keeps doing me a big favor by helping you/etal dispose of the remaining parallel stuff. 😀😀😀

there is a $10 off $50 coupon (includes Tech items) floating around.

the coupon is valid with payment via VISA Credit Card.

Do not forget the free Auto emergency tool kit (sku: 0719616). There is also an $39.99 cpn for this thing

I got my HD and Auto kit for $149.98-$10 Officemax Coupon - $10 Visa coupon (called it in, the csr gave me some crap about not combining offers, i thretened to cancel the order)- $39.99 coupon for the auto kit.

Total cost = $97.51

This deal is turning into a nightmare

The free auto kit came in but they did not package the drive. The delivery slip shows 2 products shipped. Now i am screwed :|

Talked to CSR, somewhere outside US. They said drive will be shipped in three days and hung up. Did not even verify order or give tracking #.

DAMN OUTSOURCING.
