its a printable coupon and i found it on a local deal site.

HD drive is too important to go cheap. I would avoid Maxtor (only 1 year warranty) and go Seagate.

boooooooooo. I got way too many large IDEs from previous deals already. I need SATAs... or not.

I'm in the same boat as you. I already have 4 IDE drives in my computer. I bought the 250gig Hitachi SATA from newegg for $132 shipped. Not a bad price and it also has a 3 year warranty.

Funny, I have/had 4 Maxtors, 4 WDs, and 2 seagates, and out of all these, the seagates are the only ones that are reporting various seek & ECC correction errors. 1 seagate is under 2 months old, the other about 1 year old.

I did have a Maxtor go bad on me, (when they had the 3 year warranty) but the replacement drive has been stable, and so have the WD drives.

Just because seagate offers a 5yr warranty, doesn't mean that it is any better than a drive with a 1 year warranty.

No matter which drive you get, the most important thing is to have backups, and with these monster drivers out now, the only practical way to back them up is to copy them to another HD, then hide that HD someplace safe... and hope it don't die on you. :S

I got in on this drive a couple weeks ago when compusa had it for the same price, first one off of the shelf was DOA!!! Had to return it and grab another. Good job, maxtor! In fact the only other drive i've had die on me (short of a seagate 20meg from my xt clone) was a 120gb maxtor.
