Maxtor 120GB 7200RPM $129 in local costco, no rebate, liquid bearings, I am not sure about cache, probably 2MB.
I am not sure if rebate is available making this warmer...

This deal isn't so great considering some of the other recent maxtor deals like 120gb for 100 bucks. This one from Costco doesn't necessarily even have 8meg cache and the cost/gig is over a dollar. Besides not everyone has a membership to even shop there.

Settle down Jr., Some people don't like rebates and some people do have Costco membership (Costco = cheap stuff, AT members = people who like cheap stuff).

Not flaming, but a good deal nonetheless for someone who wants 120Gb and wants it now and doesn't like rebates.

I can think of a lot of people like that...

this is pretty good. They have the seagate 120GB 5400rpm for $119 + plus shipping at compgeeks.com. So going to your local Costco saves shipping plus they're really easy to take back if your not happy with your purchase.
I got the compusa one maxtor 200GB 7200rpm 8MB cache..$299.99 + $23.25 tax = $323.25 - $100 MIR = TOTAL $223.25. However, this one doesn't have rebates so IMHO that is awesome. Great to throw in a xbox if you know what I mean.

actually I've heard you can go into Costco in certain instances w/out a membership(something to do with alcohol sales..as always YMMV..) this would be a great PM to Staples..;)

Vivi, learn the rules before you join the forums.
Some people don't have extra $60 put in rebate for 3-5 months with 50% chance of getting it.
This deal is for people who needs drive now and willing to pay a little more.
I have around $160 now in pending rebates and I can't put there more.
IMHO good deal.

I'm surprised no one has seen the real beauty of this deal. And no one get all high and mighty on me either, because half the deals I've seen violate current policies, and this only takes advantage of one. HDs are known for going bad, but with Costco's return policy you can get your money back or a new one with no hassle of RMAing it. Also, you can always return it later, even if it hasn't gone bad, but there is a better deal to be had.

I think that retail are alway expensive, for that reason rebate make it look cheaper but not really. How come they don't carry samsung 120GB? maybe, because then it would bring down the prices of other maker like WD, maxtor, IBM? so they not too happy about competition eh? Rebates IMHO are a pain to deal with and you can trust Best Buy rebate but there are some Vendors that are out to scam people. they will either make excuses or say that you didn't sent in UPC code so, what can you do about that?
