Maxing out my CPU - help required!

Hi all,

This is my first post, so go easy on me ;-)

I have a Pentium D 820 2.8GHz CPU and need a decent graphics to go with it. Can anyone tell me, or hazard a guess, at what point a faster graphics card will be limited by the CPU? i.e. I don't want to splash out on a really top card if my CPU is going to be the limiting factor...

Any help much appreciated!

That depends on what resolution and aa/af you play at. If it's like 1024x768, 1280x1024 with none or just a little AA and AF, then you're going to be pretty cpu limited no matter what graphic card you get. on the other hand, if you play at 1680x1050/1600x1200 up to 2560x1600, with tons of aa/af (like me), then you're going to be pretty gpu dependent so it would be better to get a faster one. What's your budget?
