Call me a sucker for accessories. :X
WTF??? Who pays 350 for a motherboard!?!?!?!?
curious, what can this board do that a $180 P8P67 PRO can't do?

To impress people? But I sure as hell not impressed by an grossly overpriced mobo.
*waits for "I have more disposable income than you noob" argument*
we can all say what we want.. but at the end of the day.. we're all here, reading and posting, because this is a hobby...
No one overclocks because they save money by increasing the clock speed to that of a higher priced chip.. because when the smoke clears (no pun intended).. the cost of the aftermarket heat sink, improved air flow case, extra case fans, controllers, thermal paste, monitoring tools, time and labor to make that all happen blows that all out the door... we do it because we think its fun... a hobby..... a challenge.....
So shame on anyone who knocks someone for spending $350 for a mobo !!!
p.s. but damn dude...that is an awful lot of cash for a board .. no ?
I payed $320 for my UD7, why, because i can afford it and i wanted it - Do you really need to know more lol.
$350 for S1155 board that won't even guarantee compatibility with 6- or 8-core processors? I bet you will be able to get a solid $200-250 LGA2011 board for that much $.
Sure someone got a world record on air cooling with this board, but anything beyond 1.40V and you are probably asking for a quick death on SB processors on 24/7 overclock at load. I mean anyone can crank 1.55V through a 32nm chip to break some wPrime and Cinebench 11.5 scores. It's totally different to maintain a healthy overclock. Once you consider the real world case, the difference between a $350 and a $150 board will be practically nil.
100% agree. I know LGA2011 isn't out yet, but >$250 is really 'premium' MB range. I want the BEST chipset for that price, and that starts with an 'X' for Intel. I certainly would want 2x16 (minimum) + 1x8 pcie lanes , SLI/CF support (maybe tri-SLI/CF even), etc. for that price. My P6T deluxe was only $300 at launch for 1366.
At the end of the day it's up to what the user wants to put in his/her case, because everyone knows that a motherboard that is $150 cheaper than the most expensive offering can still give the same benchmark scores, but it just lacks frills and frills sell!
And it must REALLY sell seeing as it went out of stock the same day it was listed![]()
I never settle and buy whatever i want. I'm not married, have any kids.. That i know of.. Have an amazing career. I buy what i want whenever i want. I wanted this board ever since the first time i laid eyes on it.
just trying to figure out what you're getting for that extra $170 premium.
does a regular board have the visual aesthetics as a premium board?
To some aesthetics play a big role in choice.
Given true you wont see it unless you have a windows case, but i think a good portion of us builders do use windows.
And we like looking at things which are eye candy.
Its called Eye Candy.
And i dont think if anyone had the opportunity to own the board would turn it down. It boils down to budget.
But like all things in the world, not everyone is meant to drive the ferarri.
Same can be said for premium boards.
Not everyone will ever use one, its a nichce.
And seeing how fast they were sold out, its a pretty popular niche.
