Maximized windows hide behind Start bar..??

I don't know what the heck causes this, but I found a fix once when I googled it a few weeks ago, but it's only temporary I guess, and now I can't find it again.

I simply maximize any window and the bottom won't stop at the Start bar, it'll go to the bottom of the screen, behind the bar.

XP Pro SP3, no theme's installed

Help!

Thanks,
Ian

find a blank spot in the middle of the task bar, click the right mouse button and go to the properties menu.

Play with "auto hide" and "always on top" settings.

Personally I make my task bar go vertically on the right edge of the screen and make it about 2" wide and turn on auto hide and turn off always on top... YMMV.

I've tried all that too. Unchecked all options, applied and closed. Then pulled properties back up and checked the ones I wanted again and it still is messed up.

Thanks for posting though.

I think this has something to do with your video settings. Try rolling back your video drivers and changing the resolution. I never had this exact problem, but this was what I did when my mouse was able to scroll off the screen into nothingness.
