My order shows as shipped and the tracking number reveals that the shipment left Knoxville, TN for Burtonsville, MD this morning. So in a day or two I should have them.

Mine finally showed up as shipped. It left from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for Atlanta, GA. If they sent mine from Tenessee, I'd get it alot sooner, but that would be easy...

I disagree about nimh not being suitable for most products. i use nimh batteries in my handspring visor pda, walkman where i mostly listen to the radio, and my satellite remote and haven't had any problems and they work great. check out the comparison between maha nimh, nicd, and alkaline at http://www.thomasdistributing.com/maha-battery-specs.htm And here is general info on nimh batteries: http://www.thomasdistributing.com/maha-educate-batteries.htm There was a hot deal thread on rechargeable batteries several months ago that was quite informative, but i think it is longer in the archives. for somethings like flashlights, i agree that non-rechargeables should be used, but you will certainly be glad you have rechargeables when those batteries die and you need something temporary to plug in :)

Digital camera: maha nimh = 200 photos, nicd = 80 photos, alkaline = 30 photos
CD Player: maha = 16 Hours, nicd = 7 Hours, alkaline = 6 Hours

And these are good batteries too if you get the "Made in Japan" ones.

I picked up a few packs in the half a dozen or so times Circuit City had the Maxell 20pk AA batteries for free, 99 cents, or $1.99 after rebates, and noticed the packs were either "Made in China" or "Made in Japan".

The current Curseit City B&M flyer is advertising the Maxell AA 20 pack for $4.99 (plus tax, of course). I still have some from last year's free after MIR . . .

I hate to post a better deal than what is in the topic, but if you live near a Menards (midwest store), you can get an 8 pack of, I believe, Maxells for $.97 + tax. Way better than the original deal. Deal should run through August 4th.

Don't be a dork, that's the whole point of being here. Thanks for sharing.

I've always gone to Ikea, their regular price for 10pak AA batteries is $1.99. They had this price for over a year now.

It may have been mentioned (twice). :p

And it is only the Maxell 20pk AA at Curseit City for $4.99 (plus tax, if applicable).

It seems to make a difference to some here, but I got mine today and they were all made in Japan

How totally freakish. My order for AA batteries arrived, and they're "packaged" in zip lock bags.

What's up with that?

I've been using nimh batteries in my digital for about 1 1/2 years. I do travel with 4 spare alkaline batteries as a backup but have never needed them. I've taken my digital as my only camera to Europe a couple of times and with plenty of memory I never rand out of power. I charge them right before I leave and just bought 4 more nimh batteries at Big Lots for under $5.

<Nino steps on soap box>

Not that I'm a bleeding heart liberal or anything but doesn't ANYONE care about the fact that they are putting lead and mercury into landfills by using these batteries.

I know that I sleep better using 2 sets of NiMH batteries over and over. I have one in the device and a second with me if/when the first ones die.

I use them in my flashlights, mp3 players, walkman, etc. without any problems. I've been using rechargeables for over 10 years and don't have any complaints.

I just don't get how people can put $$ ahead of decent common sense. Look at the long term effects of BOTH. You'll save money, short-term and then pay for it in the long term in both $$ and environment by using disposables.

Anyway, maybe it's because I've just turned 30 but I just can't believe that people don't think about these things when they make their purchases.

I agree with you Nino. I'm far from 30 but that makes me all the more concerned about the earth's future, since I have more years left on it. I do not go as far as recycling my toe lint, but I try to do what I can to not be wasteful, and if it saves me money, BONUS for my penny-pinchin' self. In some situations rechargeables aren't so convenient, but they work fine for me also. C'mon people! You're here to save $$$! Environment aside, how can ya knock the opportunity?
