Was that at BB? I'll try them next time. In the mean time, I'll post the new codes when I p/u the imation disks.Originally posted by: Solema
Seems to me like these Maxell's are hit-and-miss regarding getting a quality spindle. Personally, I would rather spend the extra $3 and get a Made in Japan spindle of Fuji that I know are TY and will burn at 16X for me.
Are the codes on the TY (TYG01) or (TYG02) ?Originally posted by: IksokChoy

I think a better deal is over at OfficeMax. Imation 50 pak $17.99 The ones I picked up had a Media I.D. Code Verbatim DataLifePlus DVD-R 8x Advanced AZO (MCC02RG20)
Which a pretty good "No Coaster Burn" disks
Linkafied
Imation DVDs using Verbatim/MCC azo media? That's news to me - and rather hot! (IMHO, MCC azo-based media is actually as good as, or better than, T-Y cyanine-based media, at least it was in the CD-R days. Nowadays I'm not sure what dye type T-Y uses for DVDs.) Thanks for the info.

Actually that's not true. If you are referring to just the 8X Maxell's, they have two media codes, MXLRG03's which are MIJ and Ritek GO5's which are MIT. All the Maxells's I've bought (4Xincluded), that were -R's were Made in Japan, except for one 50pack spindle that was MIT. The -R's were either MXL G02's or TY's. The one spindle of MIT were Ritek G04's, which was crap.

Do not get fooled by fake MCC media. They let also CMC and Moser Baer use the MCC media codes. The sign of true MCC media is "Made in Singapore", which is becoming rare on even Verbatim branded discs.
yesIs this MIJ MAXELL 002 any good?

sorry, I am new to this DVD media code, please bear with me.
So G01 is the best, and Go4 is the worst, right?
Thanks

Take a look at this media FAQ. It'll answer your questions.

Im very suprised at that being the media code. Can anyone confirm this? Or is just very rare?
Just downloaded DVD Identifier from CDFreaks and still get the same codes. So far I'm sold on these. In fact I'm stopping back by OM this A.M. to get another stack to compare and see if all are same codes. If so, I'm happy as a pig in poop.

Exactly.
And to the member who thinks Fuji use some "codes" like TY ... get a clue.
