max vcore for p4 2.8c

i'm at 3.36 (14*240FSB) vcore 1.7v, vdimm 2.85v, memory timings 2.5-3-3-6, 5/4 divider.

what is the max vcore to use on a 2.8c? it's pretty stable at 1.7v but i'm afraid it's too high, might try to get it lower.

any tips?

I think 1.75 is about the max you're gonna want to volt your chip. Personally I wouldn't be comfortable with much over 1.65 for any sustainted period of time....but that's me.

You should be able to go higher than that @ 1.7 v...is that the max stable overclock you've been able to get?

1.7v is fine. what stepping is your chip, it is probably close to it's speed limit anyway. I have put 1.9v through them for short periods of time.

Sounds a bit high the that overclock - Your memory timings also seem off for 5:4 LL memory - Why not CAS 2?

2.8C M0 at 260MHz with 1.575V with Corsair Hydrocool 200 E - was 250MHz at 1.55V with Alpah PAL.

Depends on the mobo. 1.7 on an Asus is actually higher than 1.7. On an Abit, it is lower. 1.7 on that Asus is more like 1.75 which is too high IMHO. I dont like to go above 1.6 actual.

And I agree on the ram timings. Tighten them up.

SL6WT - D1 .. i want a M0 stepping :T

it's 1.65v in bios but shows like 1.71 in CPU-Z/Asus PC Probe. the stable overclock is actually lower. maybe 14 * 230FSB = 3.22 ghz

thanks for tips, i'll try to tweak ram timings.

thats too much. roll it back to the stable overclock and try to reduce the voltage if you actually want to keep that CPU.

i'm not really comfortable with anything over 1.55, but that's just me.
