My system:
XP2000+ @1800 (FSB 144 x 12.5 + 1.775V)
PAL8045 + PAPST 8412NGH (cfm=46.5;36db)
SOYO Dragon+ (Bios 2BA3)
(1x) Samsung PC2700 512Mb
Gainward GF4Ti4200 (295/545)
38C iddle
43C after 6 hours of HotCPU with board at 28C and room at 25C

I can't get more than 144FSB with my current settings. At 145, it starts to freeze.

I'll try a higher voltage (1.80V - my limit) but I wanna know how long did you go with a unlocked XP2000+ what settings did you use.

I went to Overclockers.com database but the most of results for this CPU + vcore don't specify FSB or if the CPUs are locked/unlocked.

Thanks in advance.

:)

Now running @1812 (FSB 145 x 12.5 + 1.8V)
36C iddle and 42C after 6 hours of HotCPU (Passed 99.9%)
with board at 25C and room at 19C

The winter finally arrived !

C'mon guys, say something...

Your northbridge is probably getting too hot. The higher your FSB, the harder your northbridge works.

Try putting some arctic silver under your chipset heatsink or upgrading it to a better heatsink. Those factory original heatsinks are pretty crappy. If you have 486 or pentium heatsink, see if you can drill some holes on it and use that instead. :D

Is there a "scientific" method to check if it is running "too hot". The Northbridge has a Fan on it.
What can I do to know about potential problems ?

Mr. PhoenixOfWater, thanks about the site. I'll not try those extreme OC's but they give a better view about possibilities.:)

I put mem and video back at default speeds.
Changed FSB from 145 to 146.

The machine booted up,I surfed net, checked emails, ran some SETI@home(10minutes), handled some word/excel docs and everything seemed OK.
For testing, I started HotCPU and... aprox.12 minutes after the screen turned to black - as if only the monitor was turned on (but the machine was running - I don't know what) and the only alternative was reboot. :(

I tried again. That time I turned off everything not essential: AntiVirus, Firewall (My ADSL modem was off for sure!) etc. I started Hot CPU and...reboot after 4 minutes.:(

Repeated. Same procedure. Black screen after 11 minutes. SmartGuardian didn´t shown temp (44C) nor voltage problems. :(

Again. Same procedure. Black screen after 10 minutes. :(

Changed FSB back to 145. Kept mem e video at default speeds. Passed on Hot CPU (99.9%) after 6 hours. 3Dmark2001SE benchmark loop 20 times... OK.

When I was at 144 FSB, before change Vcore to 1.8, the screen (and verything) got frozen; Now, at 146, I got "black screens".

Considering I don't want go upper 1.8V, Is 145 "my limit" ?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

You should have an option in the BIOS to up the FSB, but I'm not sure if your mobo will have it, it seems most do. Where you put what type of processor you have, if you go to manual and set the FSB yourself you can do it like that (that's how I do it with my Abit KR7A)

i'm putting a vantec cooper video card cooler on the north bridge of my epox 8k3a+ with my xp2000+ which is in the mail.. not sure how to unlock it yet.. need to do some digger on the internet. how easy was it to OC? i'm scarrrred.. but i have my ax-7 heat sink and a 84cfm tornado fan (its louder than my vaccum). i'll go deaf before i get my cpu unlocked.
