Max Payne mouse question?

When I play Max Payne it says that I can use the scroll wheel on my mouse to change weapons. I can't seem to get this to work while playing, I scroll the wheel and hothing happens. My scroll wheel on my mouse works fine for every other program or software.
Anyone have any suggestions?

In the game menu - are you sure your weapon keys are set to your mouse wheel? Try setting the weapon switch to your keybroad, then if that works try switching back to the mouse wheel...
 
I have a generic compusa mouse
with
k7s5a MB, 512 mg ddr, pny gf 3 ti 200, audigy xgamer,
yes, the set up is set with weapons change to [] or mouse wheel
 
It sounds like to me it's a software problem - you have a good rig... You may want to get a Microsoft mouse or brand name mouse for better support software-wise...
