Does anyone have any idea how to get by the thugs when he wakes up and only has a baseball bat?

It's after the dream sequence in Chapter 2, it's in the shipping yard with all the containers. I found the briefcase w/the money and the note with "Mayor" on it. THere seems to be a bridge over a canal I need to drop, and can't get the bridge to drop. That enuf?

I'm in Scene 1-3. This big water heater or something falls through the floor and I jump downstairs and kill about 4 guys. Then I kill a junky, but there's no way out!! There's a window, but you can't get out through it, and the fire exit is locked. And you can't jump back upstairs.
HELP!!!!!!!!

do you guys spend 1 minute trying to find a way out, and then give up? When i was stuck i would quit the game for awhile, go do something else, and come back later. It worked everytime

I've done that. I've spent an hour walking around downstairs and I can't get out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just finished it yesterday night. It was awesome!
Kill the first guy as he walk around the corner and steal the gun. Run back where you came from for protection. Let them come in one by one and shoot them in the head to reserve bullets.
If you shoot at their chest...you'll waste bullets.

Did you know you can blast a lock or a window to get out of a room?
Try to look around carefully....I'm checking it now.

You can also follow the last guys around the corner to a room where there's weapons. There are some barettas, a shotgun and a grenadne in there.

If you want to be cheap with the baseball bat, you just let them see you and then stand right behind the doorway(out of their view) and start whacking, they'll all die without getting a shot off
Hey Silverback, there is a better way then what those guys said. Just stand behind the door that you exit from and get their attention. Then start swinging your bat like there is not tomorrow and when they walk in they will get brains beat to hell. Kinda cheap but hey it works.
NFS4: Dude I was stuck on that area forever! I had no ideas you could open up the closets, pissed me off.
Silverback: It was easy, all you have to do is wait for a minute while all the thugs walk past you. Then you follow the thugs until you walk by a room where you can go in. In the room is tons of guns and ammo and then you can kill everybody easily.

Let them come to you. The AI is kinda dumb. I took all them out with (just) the bat
. Go just outside the door from the furnace and wait for the first pair of guys to see you. Run back through the door leading into the furnace room. Wait just inside the doorway at an angle and start swinging the bat. Everyone'll keep coming and into your swinging bat! When it's all over you have all their guns and 3 rooms to investigate. I think there's a room 216; go in there. It belongs to a prostitute named Candy Dawn. Read her diary and then go through the secret doors at the closets, check out the video camera and get the Beretta ammo and shotgun ammo on the shelf. You'll eventually make it to an elevator leading to the basement of the hotel. Have fun.
There are a couple of really evil points in the game, which are either pretty hard (however, this can mostly be remedied by tricking the AI), or just very puzzling.
For instance, I think I've seen 4 or 5 people ask how to lower that bridge in the last two days. Another IMO very difficult scene is the one in that restaurant (people who were there will know what I mean), as was the self-destructing base. The last puzzle is also pretty hard - I spent about half an hour reloading and trying, and so did a friend.

I'm stuck at the beginning of chapter 1 part 6----opens up with Max on the fire escape. I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing here

I hated the goons that poured out after the old hag went into the chopper.
The pilot (basically) gave it away by saying he didn't like the the looks of that antenna tower. Save your sniper ammo for this one

About half a dozen guys will run at you, just stand there and swing the bat making sure you are not in the range of their fire.
There is a bug in the game that lets you 'swing through walls.' So you basically knock them all out without even getting hit.

He says that?! Damn, didn't notice it.
what also kind of gives it away is the cinematic sequence where payne shoots one of the wires down for you already. umm, thats a big hint to what payne is planning to do...
