Max Payne 3

I was a huge fan of the Max Payne PC games. Looks like Rockstar is making the third installment and it's coming out May 15th. Does anyone have any opinions on it? Worth buying?

there is a larger thread about it in the PC forum, TBH i dont think it looks bad, but i will wait for reviews, + diablo 3 is coming out the same day

I don't think it will be as good as the 1st two because it's being done by a different team. I wish Remedy had done it.

I remember I had just completed middle school when the 1st one came out. At the time, the my parents' PC had a voodoo2, so I had to settle for the inferior PS2 version which came out later that year. I knew it was going to suck compared to the PC and Xbox versions, but I bought it anyway. The textures and lighting on the PS2 version were particularly awful compared to playing it on a then-state-of-the-art Geforce 3 which was similar to what the Xbox had. I do remember the PS2 version had just as good of audio as the PC version did so that was a plus.

I'm interested to see what they do with the multiplayer but I really hope the story sticks to the series style. I'm going to wait on reviews and such to decide if its a buy at $60 or wait for a sale.

I lost interest long ago when I saw screenshots of all the bright, colorful areas. Max Payne should only be set in an urban environment at night while it's raining or snowing.

It's also using Rockstar's engine which should have been retired 4 years ago.

I hope there isn't the weird/scary storyline where Max Payne has psychotic dreams of walking through pitch black abandoned hospitals.

I have a feeling it will be a generic one-button mashing game. One can hope but todays gamers just want FPSs.

So, a rail adventure type game? Eh, it could be worse.
No, this game is legit, the graphics and game play are top notch, but I really like the story line and the way they tell the story, the cut-scenes don't get in the way like most games, rather it compliments/enhances game play.
