Max Payne 3 Trailer [TechReport]

But seriously though, shouldn't a trailer try to put the game's best foot forward? Like everyone else, I'm not seeing the same dark, gritty, film-noir style Max Payne that I remember. TBH it doesn't look right set in a tropical location with all that sun. Maybe I'm just being cynical. But it all looks very wrong to me.

It also doesn't help that the trailer is generic as shit. Without Max Payne attached to it, I would've assumed it was for the new "Call of Juarez: The Cartel" or whatever it's called. Hell, it looks much closer to Kane & Lynch than Max Payne.

baahahahaha!!! devs can't win...you guys bitch when they release games that are too much like the previous ones and when they try to make it different you guys bitch because it's not the same as the previous game.

hilarious.

What about Max Payne 1 vs. Max Payne 2? They were both fairly similar to each other, but essentially involved two different types of stories.

I think it looks pretty badass myself. But then I always thought that MP was pretentious and highly overrated, so I'm not surprised my reaction is different to the MP fans.

LOL to the post above 😛
can't wait for it; been a fan since the 1st Max Payne so this 1 i would probably enjoy as much as that one

had it been setting as before, i bet people would have bitched that it was the same.

I think you may be confusing this for a Call of Duty thread. 😉

The overall point is that the overall aesthetic of the game being the same in 1 and 2 didn't hurt the game nor make anyone (that I know of) speak out against it. The only negative things I ever heard about The Fall of Max Payne is that the story wasn't as good as the first one. That's probably understandable though since the first was more of a crime drama and the sequel was more of a love story between Mona and Max.

Think of that as like the difference between Final Fantasy VII and VIII. 😉

(I feel kind of dirty comparing Max Payne II to the garbage known as Final Fantasy VIII.)

The point is that no one cared that they were similar in looks!

I cared.

It's part of what made Max Payne different from the rest of the boring same-old-shit Call of Duty-like shooters of the day. YAWN. MP1 and MP2 were great.

I doubt I'll even bother with MP3 because of this nonsense.

I'll probably buy it if it's on steam at launch. Hopefully they don't completely drop the whole graphic novel story bits from the first two, the trailer didn't seem to mention it.

Same, they were an important part of what elevated the game from just being a fairly bog-standard shooter.

Shaving your head is common symbolism in stories/movies for starting fresh and new. So I'm guessing it has something to do with him "coming up" out of his slump..or whatever. Personally, the change of look doesn't bother me. We'll see how the gameplay/story is first ;p
