I have a 12 megabit (1.5 megabyte) internet connection, Max Payne 3 took a lofty five or six hours to download. Definitely the biggest game I have.

I don't really mind though. I just spent last Sunday afternoon hanging around the house and shooting the shit while waiting for it to download. Later that evening I got in and played.

Centurylink, my ISP, doesn't have any explicit bandwidth restrictions that I know of, so I don't worry about it. I've used a TON of data in short amounts of time before and they've never given me any notices so whatever. I'll easily use another 30GB by the end of the week.
I have a little bit under half of your Internet connection DL speed so MP3 will take just as I had previously stated upwards of 10 to 12hrs to DL for me LOL :-( Oh and my Internet connection is pretty average and what most people have @ 6Mb/S Mega"bits" per Second which is not slow but not near as fast as yours.

I don't see why you're in such denial that many people CAN'T get those speeds. Best I can get with my connection is 768KBps, and that's the best ISP I can get right now where I'm living. Where I was living before I could actually get up to a 12Mbit connection, but that was it. I'm not in the sticks... that's just how it is for a lot of people still for one reason or another.
I max out @ about 668 KB/s :-( still fast enough though for around 700mb DLs ect in 20mins :)

Sorry mate that message about "admiting defeat like a man" was not intended for you rather I made a mistake and posted you instead of "Aikouka" whom is where this debate was started from so my bad.

o_O

You've got to be kidding me. Why would I "admit defeat" when this is what you said:

Most people don't have that kind of bandwidth to DL 30GB+ of data in only 3.5hrs me finks you don't ether.

Read the underlined portion, bud, and here's my speedtest:

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2001936094.png

That one's a little biased, because it goes straight to Comcast in TN. If I use www.ookla.net/speedtest (which isn't as easy to link, but typically more accurate), I get 24.83Mbps/4.64Mbps U/D.

Enjoy your connection speeds there less than 5% of people in North America that have that kind of speed :)

Finished the game last night. A typical story of betrayal & politics, but how beautifully this story was executed makes this game a wonder. Wow, I couldn't get enough of the bloody carnage. The cutscenes, my God, only Rockstar can churn up such amazing characters as Passos, Giovanna, Marcelo & Becker. And I am enjoying the multiplayer as well. It's a lot of goofy fun. Can't recall the last time i paid money for a game and realized its worth. The game is still buzzing in my head.

Kudos for a game beautifully executed. Oh and by far, the visuals are amongst the best I have seen in a game. Desperately waiting for 5 : 00 so that i can get back home and hit some multiplayer.

Again, for anyone that has played pre and post mouse patch. Does the mouse play still need some more work, or is it now "acceptable" to play it w/mouse/keyboard?

I didn't play pre, i'm just playing with mouse and keyboard having bought 2 days ago. The mouse for me is very accurate and I have no complaints about it. In bullet time it's possible to reel of numerous head shots. I didn't play it in any other versions so can't compare. I havn't patched the game since buying but i'm assuming steam will have taken care of this, since the mouse play is fine for me?

The patch definitely fixed it for me. Previously, going into bullet-time or aiming while prone made my mouse sensitivity go down the toilet. Now I can aim much better.

The game plays great with KB+M.

awesome, BBuy has has MP3 on sale for xbox/ps3, but I am not sure if the sale will apply to the PC version. Will be looking around for a good price, definitely.

It's a coupon for reward zone gamer's club members only. I think it's free to join, but don't think you'll walk into the store and see it on sale. You need the coupon and a RZ account.

Also, it's unfortunately ps3/360 only. You might be able to plead your case to the managers, but it's specifically for those 2 UPCs so there's not much argument you can make. I would have ran to BB if it was PC too :(

It seems like you might as well just skip the intro... the one before the menu. It's just the credits and Max throwing shit.

Also, does anyone else have problems with spoken audio? I'm at the beginning of chapter 1, and mouths are moving, but I can't hear a damned thing. I wonder if it's because the game set the audio to "surround - rear". It's not like my surrounds don't work... I hear them in other games all the time, but something's definitely not working here. Unfortunately, I can't change anything right now and I didn't look for cinematic subtitles. :(

EDIT:

I feel lame... only finished two golden guns so far, and both in Jersey of all places!

I am in Chapter 9 and I am seriously getting bored of these gunfights. I still want to see how the story ends, thinking of finding a trainer so I can skip through the action, unless someone made a compilation of all the video cutscenes!!

I'm only in Chapter V... or maybe VI, I can't remember which, but I'm not that into the story either. The story sort of feels like Max Payne, but with a bit too much "other junk" thrown in. I really would prefer to hear less "Hey, bro!" from my partner.

The music is pretty good though. They seem to really like to use a lot of heavy hitting percussion to create some good bass and really pump up the player. I think it was Jersey where I really noticed it.

EDIT:

Oh, and one thing that I don't like is how they pull control away from you, and then just randomly throw you back in. If you put me into a (long) "movie", I will typically sit back and take my hand off the mouse. When the game throws me back in all of a sudden, I'm typically not ready for it.

Luckily, it won't necessarily kill you. An example where it took me awhile to react was
in Jersey where you kill the gangster's kid.

The sound track did not offer much of the same that was in the game. At least on iTunes.

the worst for me, was when the cutscene ended with me opening the garage door and facing 3 guys shooting at me, I was like wtf!!

I cringed when I saw gordon freemen get the bandwidth speed labeling/math wrong. I cringed even more when he tried to cover it up and change the subject to internet speeds in the US.

Also, FIOS is awesome.

Lets see:

1. You try to call out Aikouka for somehow downloading it in 3.5 hours. He shows his internet speed and some simple math showing how it's possible.

2. You manage to confuse bits and bytes and try calling him out again. Sadly you are wrong a second time.

3. You then try to change the subject to the lack of high speed connections in the US using statistics from two years ago.

4. You then mention that you are "Not doubting anyone's claimed Speeds" when that is exactly what you were doing that got you into this entire mess.

5. Finally, you ask Aikouka to "admit defeat like a man" when it was clear that you were the one repeatedly "defeated".

Do you really want to continue?

I didn't mind that. It was fun to be yanked away from a relaxed position to a scene of having to dodge bullets out of your way.
I LOL'd at the end though, where
the chief of police is on the ground and max is walking around him in circles. I never realized that there was a crosshair on his face and you were supposed to shoot him. He died anyway so never mind. And the funniest thing was that I got an achievement for not shooting the bastard. LOL. Thank God i didn't shoot him though. Wanted him to die the gory death he deserved.

Yeah... the forced "cut scenes" [where the game takes over] and slow motion walking tend to get a bit annoying at times - but I can understand why it was done - they definitely draw you into the story/game and makes it more than just a slo-mo run and gun.

The other part that I find extremely annoying is the consolized "keep dying until you get it right" combat which usually happens after a "cut scene".

Other than that - definitely an extremely fun game to play.
