Max Payne 3 Announced

Following months of internet rumors, Rockstar today officially confirmed the development of Max Payne 3.

In production at Rockstar Vancouver (The Warriors), Max Payne 3 features a now-retired Payne who still can't escape a world of corruption and violence.

"We're starting a new chapter of Max's life with this game," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation."

Max's new chapter will include a new city, as he left behind New York City after the events of Max Payne 2. Rockstar did not specify the city the new game will take place in.

Max Payne 3 will be released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next winter.

Never played the console versions, so I'm not sure what the difference is between them and the PC versions, but they're some of the few that I played through and enjoyed when I was younger.

just read this over at IGN. i cannot wait! i loved the old games. playing max payne 1 on my friends xbox was what got me hooked on the xbox's controller. playing max payne 2 on my PS2 when it came out just wasn't the same.

i just hope it doesn't get delayed. as long as they keep it true, i think i will get this on day one.

Nice, so it is confirmed! I also enjoyed the first two on the PC. Great games, although I didn't like the second one as much (but still played the crap out of it). I remember playing the parking structure from the first game for hours and hours. Then I downloaded some mods and put in even more time. Good stuff. :thumbsup:

No Remedy, no Sam Lake writing, no NYC/NYPD and Max doesn't even have the same face (!!!)..its like a new generic tough guy. It says its from the devs who did The Warriors which was a good game but I think that team did Bully, not The Warriors (I think..). Bully was good too anyways. I'll hope for the best.

I'm in the "this will probably be terrible and ruin the series" boat. They could probably just remake the first game will purdier graphics, real-time physics and all that junk and it'd be better.

I wonder if they're considering a shift to GTA style, except instead of being the actual bad guy, you're more of a vigilante?

Well, considering Remedy is STILL working on Alan Wake, not surprised they aren't involved in this game. Hopefully the new group treats the property with the proper respect.

Cool. I'll be buying this one. I played the first two on PC, but now that I'm playing on console, I may just get the 360 version of MP3.

I think I'm one of the few people who thought MP2 was better than the first.

I was thinking literally yesterday or the day before if they were gonna make MP3, the first two were phenominal, played both on PC. Can't wait, hope this one doesn't suck!
