max cable lengths

I'm planning to use my computer as an entertainment system. I've got the dvd drive, 4.1 sound, mp3 collection on it, so it seems like a waste to buy a standalone dvd and surround sound for the tv (yes, I'm cheap like that - getting married and fiancee is in med school, so money's slim right now).

Anyway, the tv and computer are in different rooms. Can anyone tell me what max cable lengths are for what I'd need to run? I'd need audio (2 lines, 1/8" headphone connectors, from GameTheater XP soundcard to BA4800 speakers). Video - RCA jack video out from computer to TV vid in (computer could do svideo, but tv doesn't have it). Some kind of control - keyboard/mouse, perhaps a wireless system in which case I'd have to run the wires to the receiver still (putting the receiver in the tv room that is). How about USB? I know it doesn't have very long max runs, unless you daisychain powered hubs, but even then it's not terribly long.

Thanks!

so you're gonna watch movies on a tv in one room and have the SOUND come from the computer speakers in another room?? or you're gonna listen with headphones?

Radio shack used to sell 20 foot 1/8 inch headphone cables, and you could easily rig two of those together with the right connector.

as far as video over RCA, i'd say you could probably pull off well over 20 feet as well (join 12 footers together or something).

so unless the tv is more than, say, 30 or 40 feet away, you should be allright

Sorry, I meant set up the speakers in the tv room, don't really need them on the computer (usually use headphones on it anyway).

And as for the distance, it's probably gonna take more like 100 feet of cable to route it nicely. I'm sure I can get/make the cables, I just don't know how much quality I'll lose over such distance, if it'll work at all. Particularly a serial or ps2 cable for a remote mouse/control/whatever.

sound cables should be ok,not sure about video i think up to 25 feet is ok but not sure ,i have used my logitech cordless mouse in conjunction with tv ( tv room next door six feet away from receiver) and it's a real pain moving it around the tv screen i wouldn't bother with it,or maybe extend the cable on a serial mouse that would be cheap
