Max Bench! No Lying!

Yo Everyone!
I've started working out everyday in the school weight room this year. Being only 130 pounds, I feel kinda small in there. I am sorta going for tone, but max bench has been something I've been working on. I love the yelling and screaming of "push, push, dammit!" when I bench press. I benched 180 pounds today, and I only weigh 130... I'll tell you, it's a great push of confidence!
What's YOUR max bench?

Squat is the true measure of power in the weight room. Bench is nice and all but its all about the squat. (Most effective compound movement)

Sad to say, I weigh 160 but probably cant max over 200 🙁 (Been working out since August)

See, with benching, I am starting to work the neck muscles now, once I build those, some small squatting then finally, Max Squat I guess 🙂
I love the weight room! How much can you squat, hunny? 🙂
(Sorry didn't want to call you by yer handle, you're too nice 😉 )

Maybe I should retract my statement about squatting. I hate squats but thats what most guys talk about in the weight room. I love the leg press and leg extension but I hate squatting. (Barbell and dumbbell)

Right back at you, hunny! 😉

Anyways, your g/f squatted 210 and she only weighted 125?
I am scared of her already 🙂

What are the average Weight Vs. Squat?
I would be interested in knowing.

bench - 285
Incline - 285
Squat - 500
Deadlift - 485
Clean and Jerk - 288

Bodyweight ~ 215

Now my fat ass is pushing 260... need to get back to the weight room...

RagingBITCH,

Contrary to popular beleif, olympic lifting, i.e., Clean and Jerk and Snatch, generates more power
than any of the power lifts. If you wanted to test someones ability to generate power, the power
clean would be a better measure than any of the power lifts.

MT: that's true, but most people who lift weights to get in shape tend to stay away from high-risk excercises. (I've injured my back once already) If done right you shouldnt injure yourself, but its kind of intimidating to try to jerk xxx lbs where there is a serious risk of injuring yourself. I do agree with what you say though. (maybe I should shut up already 😀 )

i bench bout a 100 🙁 i weigh 165 but im 6-4 tall and skinny. Squat i can do well though 350 pounds for my 10 inch quads of fury!!!😀

I bench press at 220lb (I am 165lb, 6'2&quot😉, being trying to work on my chest forever now!
Didn't realize gaining 20lb of muscle (or fat) would be so hard!!

Bench 305
Squat 405
Deadlift 405

Bodyweight 300 at the time but I'm 245 right now (and I can still do those weights).

Cheers,
Aquaman

I'm a skinny mofo, Almost 6'3" @ 149lbs. My max bench, which was last year when I was working out like mad, was 140. My squat was 210 though and I was proud that I could move that much weight considering my skinny ass legs. 😀

Bench press is suck, kills my shoulder. I don't do flat bench pressing too often, work more with dumbbells. I dumbbell press 120's, that's as high as my gym goes...🙁. I did press 310 two months ago, but I don't like doing that on a regular basis. Working with lighter weights is more gentle to my ailing shoulder. BTW, I weigh 230.

A few years back I benched 260 (once) when I weighed 150. Now I doubt I'd even hit 200, and I still weigh 150. 🙁

That said, I think bench press is an irrelevant gauge of fitness. I probably was in my best shape last year. My bench was same as now but I was biking all the time.

This year I've been a slug and sat at a desk too much. 😱
