Maui Tsunami Pics...

Out it goes...

Those rocks are usually 8-10' under water.

And back it comes...

It eventually got all the way up to where the dude is lying down. Then it went back out again. About 200' of swing. This is about 11 hours after the first waves started landing. One wave in Kahului rolled in about a half mile. Most of the damage was over on that side. The road that runs by the harbor got hammered pretty good.

It's not over yet. We still don't have an all-clear.

Yeah... like I was saying in the other thread... She's standing on a large shelf. The real rip currents are about 1/4 mile out where the shelf drops off. The water moves in and out differently than it does about a 1/2 mile up the beach where the beach just drops away to about 100'. The rip in that area is nasty. Not so bad here.

That and she was in the water while it was coming in, not going out.

True, but my dads gf works at the airport and she didn't have to go into work today....so idk. United stays my flights still good.

How long have you lived on maui?

Four years...

One non-hurricane
Two non-tsunamis... well... 1 1/2 non-tsunamis. There was actual damage this time but in the grand scheme it was isolated and minimal.

Now I have survived a Hurricane (iniki), and two non-tsunamis(christmas day a while back and today). I am pretty impressed with my self.....
