Even with heavy glare, polarized glasses are overrated IMO.

The dash and windshield glare reduction is a godsend from polarized lenses. It takes a few months to really notice what the polarization is doing, but once you "get it", you really never can be without it again.

Sure, you pay that much of a premium for anything you have to truly believe it is "worth" the money and then convince others that not only did you make the right choice but so should they...personally I have owned Oakleys and Ray Bans and never see a need to go any higher up the food chain than that, but if others are happy spending $300+ on sunglasses then more power to them.

Well, like I said, you can own Maui at much cheaper. Costco sells them for about half of what Sunglass Hut does and has a nice return policy, too

I love them. The only complaint is the arms don't close completely so you can't wear them on your shirt when aren't wearing them.

I have them too. They are super light and excellent for sports as they never move or even shift when you are wearing them. You just need to push them up instead of wearing them on your shirt.

I have Maui Jims. The lens quality is out of this world. Great for driving, even until dusk, if you get the correct lenses.

Awesome in direct light and glare is so well reduced you can look at water that has full glare without them and see below the surface with them on.

Edit: I have these

Yea, to be honest I've seen the benefits from reduced glare and I still wasn't impressed. I sat in my car one day on in a parking lot on a bright sunny day in austin and switched back a forth a few times making sure to see the difference in glare off of other cars and windshields. It just wasn't that much of a difference. At least not enough to justify the rainbow effects through tint.

I wanted a pair of Maui Jim's, but couldn't afford it, so I got a pair of Bolle's that I like. I didn't know I could get them at Costco that cheap though. Oh well.

If you get them for $100-$150 then sure as that is what the regular retail for the competition is...but many/most buy from the hut at pretty impressive prices...personally I just don't like the name maui jim but realize their products are pretty good, if I can get a set I like for the same or less of a cost than others I am considering I might buy...but then again my current Oakleys of nearly 8 years are fine other than wear and tear thus no need to buy something new.

This thread makes me sad:( I have a terrible track record with nice sunglasses. I've lost, had stolen, destroyed so many pairs in short periods of time that I finally gave up and started buy cheapo's and now I can't lose them if I try:eek:

Heres my ranking from best to worst of the ones I've had

Costa del Mar
Maui Jim
Serengetti Drivers
Vaurnet
Revo
Rayban

I've been wearing Killer Loops for a long time. Started off with M Frames (which were just about perfect for sports) but sold them for something more wearable around town. Now I'd like to get some sporty glasses again (for running). I've been dead set on Oakley Half Jackets but haven't gotten around to buying a pair. Is there a comparable MJ pair that you guys would recomment?
