Never had to wheel and deal on a mattress....cars however, ugh. Hate car dealerships....really do. I always feel that they slip it into you so easy, you don't realize you're getting f - - ked (can't be rape because you're agreeing to it).

I had a Sealy for 23 years. I was in pain just trying to go to sleep. I woke up in pain. Got the low-end Tempurpedic. Pain in bed is the the thing of the past. But I do think that I over-paid. I wish I got a firmer mattress, as my butt sinks. I've read good things about the Casper, but not having tried one, I can't recommend. Won't wait so long to get the next one.

I slept on a waterbed one summer while staying with friends. They had no A/C in the house, but it was the coolest that I've ever slept. Ever since, I've been tempted to get one just for the comfort in the summer.

I went into a mattress store and said "I don't want to spend a lot". Guy showed me 4 choices, I liked one of them and bought it for $500. Got a metal frame for $50.

Couldn't imagine spending much more than that.

More importantly, couldn't imagine spending much more time or energy on making a purchase. Not unless you were bedridden.

Don't get me wrong ... sleeping may very well be my favorite thing to do, but I guess my body just hasn't deteriorated to the point where I need a $6000 bed.

Yeah my total time in the store was roughly 10 minutes.

when I first bought my tempur pedic The very first night I woke up 1 hour earlier then normal. Felt well rested and ready. It was at that moment that I knew it matters how deep you sleep every night.

Off topic, but where did this phrase come from? Nobody who has ever actually had a baby would use the term "sleep like a baby" in a positive light. Parents with babies look tired for a reason.

As a parent that has a baby we are tired because you have to feed them every 3 to 4 hours. Not getting 8 hour of straight sleep is why we look like crap. When my son is not feeding he is total unconscious. A brass band could go marching through the room and not wake him up.

As for the thread we have a latex mattress from IKEA. Think it was just over 1000 Canadian. We love it. No way I would spend 6000 dollars on one.

They always manage to weasel in some kind of extended warranty into the paperwork after I literaly told them I did not want it, then they get you on the delivery to dealership fee, paper work fees, paper plate...that crap ticks me off because it's never the number they initially tell me that I'll be paying per month.

I need to get a firm mattress while my wife wants a mid firm mattress. I am thinking of going the sleep number route. My back is messed up and firm only works for me.

FWIW you can get other mattresses with different levels of firmness per side. My wife likes a softer bed so when we bought our mattress her side was three layers of latex: firm, medium and soft. Mine was firm, medium, medium. I ended up re-ordering my side to medium medium firm to get a slightly firmer feel.

1% er problem. I buy my mattress from Costco so I know I'm not getting hosed. Less choice and no need to haggle.

About 8 years ago the GF and I bought a Dux (Duxiana) bed. We paid around 10k for it. Best investment ever. Six adjustable chambers. 25 year warranty. Don't skimp on a cheap mattress.

I'll be looking to buy a new mattress in a month or two, has anyone tried Tuft and Needle?

Sounds similar to Casper, but cheaper. $600 for queen shipped, also 100 day trial.
https://www.tuftandneedle.com/mattress/

Edit: Upon reading some other reviews I also found Helix, which is very customizeable based on how you sleep. So many options...

Yikes mayne. For $6000 that thing should include a wet hole where you just roll over and start pumpin into the mattress. Plus it's self cleaning so you don't have to deal with your nut afterwards.

I want to buy a new mattress in the near future but I haven't started looking yet. I'll have to check out that US-Mattress website that Jimzz posted.

You know . . . drugs will also help you get a good night's sleep. Of course you may wake up in the middle of the night and decide tor run around outside naked. But at least you won't remember it.

I have a queen size 10" i got for half price from co-worker that owned it for 3 months but took a position overseas. I like it better than my old bed for sure, but for me its a tad on the firm side. Wife loves it though, but she likes them stiff *pun intended*

I slept on one of those in a hotel in Florida a few months ago and I was pretty impressed with how comfortable it was. I might be tempted to buy one but they are SOOO expensive!

You're welcome to sleep on dirt outside with no A/C or heat. OP makes bank and if he wants to buy $6k ventilated mattress, he should since he can easily afford it. $6k for him is like normal people buying $600 mattress. $6k is like 3 days work for him. $600 is like 3 days work for normal person. So it's about equivalent.

I went and bought another mattress this weekend. (I have many bedrooms, so I can experiment with different beds.)

Went to the Nest Bedding showroom in Orange County to test out the Alexander Hybrid due to all the raving positive reviews online. It was complete crap! All the reviews are lies. That's the bed they are pushing because they get some sort of referral bonus.

Ended up ordering the Q3 ($2500) which is an organic all latex model. While it wasn't discounted, I asked if the $200 coupon that applied to the Alexander Hybrid could be used on the Q3. The salesperson said no, but then gave me $250 off just for asking.
