i like glossy better, but i heard that as many as 92% favored matte. that seems a little bit high, so i started a poll that i am hoping many people will participate in.

I can't stand specular reflections. If there's any light sources in a room, they can be very distracting.

I prefer glossy.

I will do everything in order to get glossy monitors. Buying a 40$ Window Shade to put in the windows to stop any reflection from going into the monitor is the best.

I actually have two glossy 1440p monitors and one 4k matte in the middle and I can say that the colors on the glossy 1440p ones are much better (yes I know one is TN and the other is IPS)

Well a glossy spray coat will keep your model's paint job chip free, but in my opinion a matt coat looks a lot better. Glossy Space Marines just look weird.

For gaming in my gaming room glossy everytime, when using other computers around the house with less control of the incoming light matte.

"Better" or "more accurate?"

Most people who are not graphics professionals are immediately drawn to over saturated, bright colors. Doesn't mean they're accurate.

I have glossy screens everywhere, but only because it's all you can buy for cheap anymore.

Hahaha I wonder how many people will even get this.

And I wonder why people don't know what OP is talking about, especially since this is the Video Cards and Graphics forum. Hint: you're probably looking at one if you are sitting at a desk.

I prefer my video card coolers matte finished, too shiny and they stand out too much compared to all the other PCB around them. Most coolers come matte finished these days, its just not worth polishing them.

I prefer not to see myself in the monitor, so matte it is.

I enjoy satin wood instead of a heavy gloss varnish. Apply a linseed oil rub. Work the wood down to 320 grit, rub with steel wool, and apply a nice coat of Johnson's paste wax. emmmmmmm.

I like my monitors matte and my girls glossy. I also like fast response times, especially on the latter.

The new matte coatings are subtle enough not to cause perceivable noise in the image displayed. Best of both worlds.

I was going to say glossy, but I believe the Dell 2913WM has a slight matte.

It's not much.

So I voted matte even if it's minor.

glossy may give a slightly better picture but it annoying as can be if there is any light around. glossy bezels alone drive me crazy.

and I wish it was possible to make matte tablets and phones as those devices are almost unusable outside.
