Gotta go with Family Guy/American Dad! over Simpsons/Futurama here. Like many others I grew up LOVING The Simpsons, but as we all know it's been going downhill for many seasons now. Also, I never really understood the love for Futurama, it's a funny show that has its moments but is far from epic, I do agree it got the axe far too early though.

MacFarlane is just a naturally funny guy that does great voices and has a rotten mind that helps him develop some really funny shows with lots of risque stuff in them. Never thought anything would top the Simpsons but he's thrown 2 contenders in the ring in my opinion. So for now he definitely tops Groening.
 
I'm gonna go with Groening, Futurama is pure comedy while Family Guy is mainly shock value, and the Simpsons opened the door for shows like Family Guy.
 
Futurama > *, fuck Seth. Family Guy has been so awful lately, much much worse than the new Simpsons eps. American Dad still kicks ass but there aren't enough eps per season.

exactly. a lot of the time FG drags their jokes out way more than necessary. they take it to the point that it actually stops being funny.

the simpsons might be dumb now, but they had a much longer "good" run than family guy did.

i like Family Guy, but Seth M. is so fucking full of himself. We get it, you love musicals (i love you), hate Conservatives, make fun of the South, and are generally a heavy-handed opinionated ass-bag.

Futurama was hilarious throughout and made fun of everything. A lot more subtle. :thumbsup:
 
I dunno why it's cool to bash Family Guy now but I still think it's hilarious. Though since I have it set to record to DVR I never really know if I'm watching a new episode or one I just haven't seen before.
 
Futurama, no contest.

Older Simpsons were good, though not the first few seasons. Around the middle of the show's run was the sweet spot.

 
The Simpsons, as a whole, is the most literate satire ever broadcast, and infinitely funnier and more imaginative than anything Seth McFarlane has ever done or ever will do. Yes, it isn't the show it once was, but there are still literally hundreds of brilliant Simpsons episodes. To me Family Guy and American Dad are shock over substance, and not truly funny.

Yes...which is great, but staying power is traditionally less edgy. The simpsons used to be on that edge. Southpark has kept its edge.

Although I think the new movies are not up to the same standards as the original series , just seems like something is missing. The Simpsons are an institution. Fox would not be around if it were not for The Simpsons and Married with Children. Family Guy I watch , but it is indeed mostly crude jokes and not really all that funny.
 
I have to give it to Groening just for Futurama. Simpsons can do the next 20 years of fart jokes for all I care.
